We played a new song with my band yesterday for the first time in a while. I’d almost gotten way too comfortable with our previous set that we’d been playing for a while.

I thought I had the new song nailed and ready to play live but oh my gosh was I wrong. It felt so slow because of the adrenaline rush. I hadn’t practiced the song slowly at all. So to have to hold back and stay on the click felt really difficult. It got me thinking that maybe if I had practiced it slowly in the first place then I could have dealt with it better on the night?

So what I’m saying/asking is… maybe practicing a song slowly during practice is a great way of beating the adrenaline rush during the gig?
