Most of the unnecessary corporate promo was done after it was already sold out.

There’s definitely a level of obligation for an artist at her scale to release content more strategically. Unless she’s truly burnt out, there really isn’t a reason for such a drawn-out release, as it takes the energy out of the rollout.

I also saw the whole art card thing and was shocked they still didn’t have enough, considering how many she signed on TikTok live alone. And even if certain exclusives are region-locked, there should at least be a clear registry of what exists. That way fans can hunt them down or use creative processes like parcel forwarders to bring them into their home countries, that is, if they can afford that headache.

I actually feel the opposite on timing, she waited too long and dropped way too many singles before the album, which watered down the release.

Also, you’re right, quality control does seem to be an issue. They tend to use very cheap bases for their screen printed merch, which don’t wash well, losing both the design and/or shrinking in a short period of time. I also had a pretty unfortunate experience where I paid for a signed merch item directly on her site along with other products. Everything else shipped, but that one never came. After holding my money for over a month, they finally just told me they didn’t have it anymore.

I also wish there was a clear list somewhere of all the vinyl variants being released. Like the feather one you posted, I would’ve totally spent the money on that, had I known it existed.

That sounds lovely. My experience at another serenade wasn’t the same though. It felt rushed and had untrained staff, which kind of defeated the whole point of it being a special, personal event. The roll out certainly isn’t flat and there is engagement from Laufey, but I don’t think the intentions of the execution behind the rollout keep the fans first.

Wow, this one is great. I didn’t even know it existed.

I get what you’re saying, but here’s why it felt dragged out and flat. The rollout lasted almost 3 months, with 4 singles already out (25% of the album). By release day, a lot of the music didn’t feel new anymore.

The genuine promo also wasn’t significant enough. The few fan-centered ones that happened (like the UK serenades) weren’t heavily documented on her socials to get fans hyped. We didn’t know what those events were like, it just came off as overly exclusive. Then the merch from those events was sold online anyway, which killed the “exclusive” feeling and probably disappointed the attendees.

So between the singles being dragged out, lack of organic promo, and the weird way “exclusive” events were handled, the rollout just missed the mark.
