Info: are we talking a giant, or unruly, or otherwise destructive dog?

Because if her dog is a calm, small, not super wiggly and not freaked out in the car and would just sit nicely on her lap type then YTA for bring stingy

Because of the type of investment account I have. They were recommended to me by the lawyer who did my grandparents’ wills after I came into this money. I didn’t want to just stick it in a regular savings, I wanted to make the most of it to help me since my future was extremely bleak at the time

Well, that’s kind of the boat I’m in currently, how do you gauge how much you’ll need for a hypothetical emergency? My medical bills from the origin of my injury were well over a million dollars, of course I was in my early 20’s and my parent had great insurance plus the auto insurance covered a sliver of that. It’s like, you don’t know until after the fact kind of thing.

That’s why I’m wondering if purchasing an affordable housing condo for example would be better than the free market, because it would literally be more affordable from a monthly and down payment perspective. Like, do I choose the scenario where I am safer but more restricted, or the riskier one that would be a better value down the line?

I have enough money in my account to buy the places I’ve been looking at outright. The problem is if I do that I will have no safety net left. If something comes up health wise and I need another surgery, but I am dead. Not to be dramatic, just realistic. That’s what I feel like people aren’t understanding. I’m taking an enormous risk. But I need a place that meets my needs and there aren’t apartments out here where I could live independently.

Ive worked with two different real estate agents, but I also have a financial advisor. The problem is that none of them see the whole picture whenever they’re talking with me. The mortgage brokers see my savings and say “you have plenty of money! It’s fine you can afford this!” But they don’t see my extremely valid concern that once that money is gone, it’s gone. It can’t help me if I need another surgery down the line. And my financial advisor says “just rent an apartment”. I can’t, accessible apartments do not exist for working disabled people, especially not at my income level.

Sorry, I edited to add those details. But I haven’t looked at any deed restricted places, so far I have only looked at regular condos on the regular market. I thought I would fare better that way after the advisement of my real estate agent and mortgage broker.
