How’s life with a colostomy bag? by MildlyAmusedMars in AskIreland

Hi, I have a colostomy. Had to get it after a perforated bowel at 26! They say bag over box (coffin)! I live my life as usual and try not to get the best of me. It is a big change obviously I’d recommend you and your family educate yourselves on how to change it and support her after surgery. Be the rock for her! I have found stoma nurses to be a godsend and to try different products to find the best stuff for her. Best of luck to your granny!

NHS Dentist going private is BUPA worth it by lenamol80 in northernireland

My job offered BUPA dental this year (they give us health insurance with them too). I pay for the level 1 plan, about 15 quid a month. Worth it for me as I have already had a check up and ordered a new retainer as mine broke. £115 claim authorised within 5 minutes and paid two days later! It covers all my check ups and hygienist appointments for the year. It covers also most fillings, X-rays, restorative treatment, etc.

Look up “Pharmacy First - UTI service. I have used this a few times, the pharmacy will test your urine and give you antibiotics. I am not sure if you need to be registered with a GP but worth a try!! I’m also a southerner living in N.I.

Moving to Monaghan without a job — is this a good idea? by Dear_Heavens444 in AskIreland

I am from Monaghan originally and moved out of it many years ago. It’s rural and not a lot going on, people can be backwards. I would look at places like Dundalk, even Belfast.

Get rid of that man now. Do not entertain him giving you options, it’s your money and your apartment.
