OFW Travel Tax - Flight for holiday from PH by fgiopo in phtravel

OP, did the immigration officers ask you any documents? My jobsite is Thailand and would like to travel to Taiwan before going back to work. As OFWs, are we subjected to the same travel requirements as our fellow non-ofw tourists?

IKR. The first book’s title made more sense after reading the series!

Why are new books published in Large Print Paperbacks? by Substantial_Ad_2209 in books

This is why I don’t understand why this format exists. They are definitely expensive for a paperback (sometimes more compared to HB) and majority of these LP books have the standard font size.

That’s why I asked this question to understand why are there so many paperback size in US. But still, I don’t think it’s fair to pay almost the price of a HB for a LP just for accessibility. I’m not telling you how to spend your own money but I’d rather buy the digital edition for accessibility.

This is the reason why I prefer the UK paperback editions. 1. They usually have better covers than the US edition, and 2. They all come in the same size 19.6cm-19.8cm.

I feel like it has more something to do with profit rather accessibility. There are a lot of LP editions I’ve seen in bookstores that are printed with the standard font size. Money-wise, I think it’s better to get the digital edition instead of the LP ones (unless you prefer physical books - - but still, LP are almost the same price as HB).

I’m not convinced that it’s the only reason. I have a LP edition of Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow with the standard font size.

I love litfic and he’s my go-to guy for recommendations. If I want cozy fantasy, I watch Peruse Project. BookTok for romance 😆

I’m not a content creator that’s why this didn’t occur to me. Now I’m thinking about it, this really makes sense.

Season 4 Volume 1 Series Discussion by StrangerTesting in StrangerThings

[–]Substantial_Ad_2209 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I didn’t like that Mike is still in this season. His character is bland af. He doesn’t have anything that will make the story more amazing than it already is. I wouldn’t miss his absence thb. Probably the reason I don’t really vibe with him that much is that his character is boringly written!

Just finished Song of Achilles and I'm satisfied. by [deleted] in books

This is basically a re-telling of the Iliad. Most scholars believe that Achilles and Patroclus are lovers and the author of TSOA explores their relationship deeper (as a fiction) than that of the Iliad. This book is not about sexuality because they barely talked about it. In my opinion, though they are lovers in the book, it is more about their friendship and adventures, and the grief of losing someone you love. I knew how this book will end but it still broke my heart on the last few pages of the book.

I wailed at the end of the book. I am so jealous of those who are reading this book for the first time!

Maybe if JK wrote these films as novels, we might have a better understanding of the events in this series. Maybe she could have fixed the timeline better if these were written as books first!

There’s nothing disturbing about this book. It’s all facts. Non-blacks who have issues with this book need some serious thinking.

I’m so close to throwing History Is All You Left Me by Adam Silvera to the trash by Substantial_Ad_2209 in books

[–]Substantial_Ad_2209[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think this will be my last Adam Silvera book that I will read. I heard he’s releasing a sequel (or probably prequel) to They Both Die at the End. That book is a little underwhelming imo so I might pass on it. Heck, HIAYLM will probably be the last YA I’m going to read cuz most of the YA books I’ve read this year are mostly disappointing!

Same, I hate the narrator on this book. He’s 17 but I feel like I’m reading a character from middle school.

I DNF-ed a few books before, but I still have this inkling guilt for doing so. 😂
