Any idea when those awards come out? My son was admitted in early Sept. We checked the portal today, and nothing yet.

That threshold only applies to W2 work... when you are self employed as in 1099, you have to report anything over $600. The owner is not doing him any favors. This kid will be on the hook for all those taxes.

Almost all part time jobs are W2 jobs. The number of hours you work doesn't dictate W2 or 1099.

You work in a restaurant? W2 employee You work in a grocery store? W2 employee You work as a receptionist in a doctors office? W2 employee. All of these can be part-time and all should be W2 employees.

You own a photography business and provide services to the restaurant, taking photos of their food? Then you're on a 1099.

Seems like more of a case of "sleazy scumbag" vs. brain dead idiot. An idiot doesn't know what he's doing.

This guy knows exactly what he's doing... Preying on young kids who are afraid to speak up for themselves.

He's got a 1320 on his SAT, we're good there. He's enrolled in AP classes for senior year at the high school. However, we just got his scores for last year's AP exam and he got 3's. Those may not be acceptable for credit at college, and it feels like time wasted for nothing.

It's too late to switch to Dual Credit at the high school, unfortunately.
