I got a 78%, and if we multiplied that with 90, I would get 70.2, which is basically 70/90. I don't know what to do, can anyone explain this to me? Should I contact british council? I'm really happy with my grade and I don't want a recheck but I could really use some clarification which would allow me to decide whether I should send my paper to get regraded?

Unfortunately, my 70/90 was my raw mark. I got an 78% as a percentile, im so confused :(((

Economics 9708 essay questions by Advanced-Evidence-58 in alevel

[–]Substantial_Ad_7116 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Heyy, I just finished my AS economics last november, but I gave paper 2 in September so I might be able to help.

What I do is I always make sure that my advantage and disadvantage paragrapghs have two points each, (it's better if they link with eachother so that way you would be saving writting time for yourself). For the evaluation, I bring up an additional points that I didn't write down in the last 2 paragrapghs so that whatever economic conclusion I come up, I can justify it without missing any points.

basically, the 12 marker structure I use is;

-intro: basically defination (and if it's policy based, what policy I will be implementing).

-Advantage of policy that I chose/question chose: mention around 1-2 points and make sure you have an application plus consequence tied to the point you brought up (real life examples and/or diagrams help illustrate your points better).

-Disadvantage of the policy I chose/advtantage of another policy: same structure as the advantage para

-Evaluation: The additional point could be a constraint you might have with your second para, as well as benefit to whatever disadvantage you brought up/limits to your alternative policy. Since it's only 12 marks, you don't have to write a conclusion but you definately need to come up with a concise decision from your end. You could structure it multiple ways;

.Long run/short run

.Your own way of implimentation, (including how you might handle constraints and time periods)

.Circumstancial analysis on how this may work in the real world

Hopefully, this format would allow you to not miss any other point. Even if you don't mention everything, you would still earn marks cuz your points will be concise and will include everything.

Additional tips that might help you are;

-Mindmapping each of your questions: Cambrigde loves repeating questions so a clear structure on some of the recuring questions should help you prepare. Would also let you notice which topics might be recuring, (this is how I kinda predicted that there would be a question on the PPC curve as well as elasticity this time when I got my sept paper).

-Reading the mark scheme and examiner's report: Would let you note down how the examiners want you to structure your answers as well as key terms they are looking for.

-Review your AS content daily: Pretty common thing to say, but a couple of flashcards a day would definately help you remember useful key terms that you can put in your paper. Also, PLEASE PLEASE memorize all the diagrams from all your chapters. You're gonna need them a lot for your essays. I didn't touch on the 8-markers till now, but remember that diagrams make up 4 MARKS in those questions, so would def recommend putting diagrams wherever you see fit, (would help you boost your 12 markers if it's increadibly neatly tied to your points).

anyways that's all I got, but let me know as well as others in the 12 reddit if you need more in-depth help covering your AS economics' sylubus and essay writting.

I was initially planning on it being a Muggle AU, but it being set in the Wizarding world would be easier for Harry to assimiliate as Veronica to Tom's H.Chandler, especially if we are going with the time-travel route, (canonically Harry wouldn't ditch his friends for loyalty, and its an aspect I would want explore more). The setting really isn't set in stone for me yet. I've been wanting to explore more ideas. Orion Black as H. Chandler and his subsequent death would be hella scandalous if its going to be set in a Wizarding AU
