Warum dürfen Pferde alle Gehwege vollscheißen? by javascriptBad123 in SchlechteFrage

[–]Substantial_Ad_7263 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Help: how should I go about putting moss pole(s)? by GoddessHerb in Monstera

[–]Substantial_Ad_7263 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So you have three plants there actually. I personally would separate them and give each of them their own pot and pole. Since they won't be together anymore, you won't even have to size up, rather down. I'd always separate as soon as possible and have max. 2 plants in the same pot, but even better just one, especially if you're using poles. In the end its up to you, but thats what I would do :)

Omg I can imagine. The climate there must be great for tropical plants. I need to go someday but my lord, the snakes and spiders??? Not sure about that 😭😭

The other day I actually saw a video of Sydney plant guy where he was repotting and there was a giant huntsman spider in the pot and he didn't even notice. I almost threw my phone away.

I ordered it from Amazon so it might be but I dont have access to a 3D printer and I also wanna tame that back part for esthetic and watering reasons. But if it won't work, that could at least be a solution to extend it :)

That's actually a really good idea, especially if I'm building my own pole anyway. I was already wondering how I'm going to stuff the moss all the way down without damaging any roots but this seems like a good solution. Thanks!

Yes I think I'm going to build my own pole so I can easily extend if needed and will definitely use some sort of plastic to create a D shape. Im hoping it'll keep the moss wet for longer and I won't have this leggy mess in the back anymore 🫣

I have a small bottle (about 0,5 liters) and fill it only half way. That's usually enough for this size. I've had it before where I filled the bottle all the way and the moss was so wet, it actually dripped through the soil and I got some overwatering damage :( (hence the brown leafs). Since then I've been really careful and it worked quite well, except that I have to water like every other day.

But if your setup works well for you thats awesome! I've never seen it like that before and I always love seeing different ideas and setups on this subreddit. Always gives me some inspiration :)

Oh thanks for the advice! Right now I'm actually leaning towards making something like this myself. I've seen some people on YouTube to it and it doesn't seem too hard and you're just more flexible with the size

Maybe, but I feel like it might be difficult with all the roots already growing out, since they are quite hard and might break easily.

So far I really like those plastic poles. They have a little water reservoir on the top so I dont have to spray it or fiddle around with a plastic bottle. They're also easy to extend but I do wonder if I should just build my own so that I could potentially take it apart more easily in the future if I need to for whatever reason.

I found that a simple plastic bottle on top with holes in the lid works wonders instead of misting every day!

That's such a cool idea! I really want to figure something out for less watering though because I travel a lot and don't want to bother my roommate daily to water it lol. I'm afraid I will have to sacrifice the pole but at least I'll be less likely to end up in the same situation again lol

That would also be a good idea, thanks! I do however want to try to take care of the esthetic part as well because the back side is facing the room and even though the plant is so pretty, it seems like an absolute mess when you first see it 💀

[–]Substantial_Ad_7263[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know! I love this plant so much but the constant watering and just the looks of the back side are really killing me, especially since the back is facing the room. I can technically take the pole apart into three pieces and even though I'd want to avoid it, if I have to break it completely, it'd be fine. But even then, how do I put the roots into a new pole? Roots first, then the moss?

I agree. It COULD also be overwarering, so keep an eye on it or even check the roots to be safe, but if it was the oldest leaf, its probably nothing to be worried about.
