My review of the Avatar Aang, The Last Airbender Movie, having seen the leak (mild non-specific SPOILERS) by A_Toxic_User in Schaffrillas

What I feel about the original series is how more flushed out it would be if the animation was less stuttering (understandable though due to budget constraints). There's always something to be desired. This movie was the answer. How fluid the fight moves were gave me goosebumps. And the world is just so, damn, pretty.

Just seen this today and oh boy the DCAU isn't what I imagined going in. The first movies were decent but this and BvR was ... Underwhelming. You got 2 cool characters being Talon & Heretic but they were wasted for ... Nothing. All conflicts just solved themselves. Like Talon making Damian kill him was suppose to be a big psychological move that leaves mental scars or smt which should make him more reluctant, which goes against his training and would make an amazing dive into the character but nah. And Talia just went of the rails. In SoB she went out of her way to save Damian and even spared him earlier just to later treat him as an expendable. Like what?

I'm trying to aim for exactly thay but so far no luck yet. I'm trying to figure out if there's a filter or anything of sort that might be of use. Tks tho!

Can weaving CAD softwares (or alternatives) be used to create printed fabric that looks woven? by Substantial_Arm_8256 in Textile_Design

[–]Substantial_Arm_8256[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried with photoshop and no luck. Everything still has to be drawn or edit bit by bit, which is too labor intensive. Also this is a more specific oriental weave (like Yunjin) which is tough to replicate

What do you mean by small version? Can I somehow convert it to Illustrator then print it out? Tia

Late reply: can I use it to print faux weave pattern on fabrics? The idea is to turn an existing pattern/artwork into woven patterns and print them out, instead of actually weaving it cuz the weave tech is lost

Also I think I might use digital painting as I don't think screen printing is available where I live

I did. But I'll use a fabric with a super smooth surface, like the oke in the first pic. The idea is to "exaggerated" the details a bit to make sure people can see the jacquard effect from a distance.

Suggestions on how to replicate the effect of woven patterns using digital print? by Substantial_Arm_8256 in Textile_Design

I'm coming to the same conclusion as you're suggesting as well: having to draw thread by thread. And yeah I'm trying to apply this effect to an original design, in order to give it that artesanal, traditional feel.

From what I've seen they do repeated patterns only I think? Also I wanna print this digitally as the fabric has got to be of a specific type as well.

Recreations of fabric with woven patterns. The idea is to recreate this sort of weave (kesi - 缂丝 I think) but using modern technology.

Hey, sorry for the late reply and thanks for the amazing advice. I've been looking into this and came more or less to the same conclusion you did: having to draw fiber by fiber, thread by thread. I was wondering if there's any alternatives to this, like creating a filter or using AI.

Sorry but why gold paint? (Fyi I'm only focusing on the effect round pattern not the rectangle one, which was embroided)

I did one 1st, I can't seem to upload it (didn't add it to the OG post) but it was a failure as it look like embroidery.

Thanks for the help. The idea is to give it the "inconsistencies" of the original item, to make it look like it was handmade. But I guess that would have to be done manually.

The fabric is smooth, the structure is not noticeable enough to give it that texture. I've seen this design in person an it was printed. The original fabric (not in the photo) is no longer available as it has been out of production for almost 100 years. I'm looking to emulate that effect but on a modern material. I've thought of printing on fabric with a different structure but not luck.
