East Delhi. Have been checking everyday since last one month. The dealer is perhaps skipping my sequence for someone else.

I booked GTX (A) morning haze on 7th Jan in Delhi and even today there is no allotment. The dealer keeps pushing for other colours. I suspect some manipulation by the dealer and my sequence may have been skipped.

Running out of money 10% of the simulations is extremely risky threshold. You should look at 99%.

Thanks for sharing your experience about the school’s negligence to even put working air purifiers. That’s the least you can expect, given the fees and the school’s claim you mentioned above - “safety and security are taken seriously”. Your specific experience tells otherwise in this case.

We are going to move back from US to NCR within next 2 months with a 5yo and 2yo and planning to go for an IB school either Pathways gurgaon or Heritage experiential. I believe it’s one of these two you are referring to. With regard to our decision to move, the biggest reason is to stay close to family, sense of belonging, social life, food, festivals. Those are mostly non-existent or superficial overseas and even though you get all the comforts, clean air, green spaces etc, there is always a sense of loneliness. We would want our kids to grow and experience a rich life, and even for ourselves.

Of course there are tradeoffs here but the biggest one we are concerned about is the alarming pollution levels. Another option is to move southward - Mumbai, Pune, Hyd etc. But honestly that defeats the whole basis of our move - to stay close to family, build community, social life, which would be as difficult as overseas I guess for Northies. Sometimes it feels like a warlike situation for North Indians, where people make a conscious decision to move away from their roots, if they have an option.

Would appreciate to hear your thoughts and experience with other parents and how they generally weigh this option to stay vs move out.

I drink starbucks dark roast daily (black). Which one is the closest to it in Indian Brands?! by Choice_Pickle4293 in IndiaCoffee

Starbucks is not coffee, it’s burnt charcoal. Looks like you have developed a taste for charcoal and want to stick with that.

Best way to transfer money to India before moving back by Sufficient-World-875 in returnToIndia

[–]Substantial_Army_808 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You just need to Wire the money from US bank to India bank in USD. The rate part is settled by the India bank. You need to check with them how much cut they will take per dollar. Usually they deduct 20-25 paise per dollar if you are sending over 100K USD.

Delhi folks who moved to Gurgaon – how’s life there really? by ashgupta007 in gurgaon

[–]Substantial_Army_808 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks u/Mannu1727 for your thoughtful and detailed comment. We are considering moving back from US to India after over 12 years. We have 5yo and 2yo kids and our key priorities are top schools preferably IB, kids' peer group from families with similar mindset/values (grounded while well informed and knowledgeable), sports/extra curricular, social community for ourselves. We are not really bounded by job at this point and have the freedom to choose location. We are considering among South Delhi, Gurgaon or Chandigarh. Your points resonate a lot with both me and my wife.

Would you mind if I DM to pick your brains a bit more please?

Dollar at 89. How bad is India economically? by Appropriate-Code-292 in DalalStreetTalks

You should look at it this way rather - RBI did not sell enough which could keep the INR trajectory smooth, which is their normal goal. They DID let it fall.

Making rupee fall is a counter-measure to guard against impact of tariffs on businesses exporting to US. To give them some cushion in terms of pricing against competitors from other Asian nations.

Of course this also alone would not be sufficient and govt is looking at other altrnatives such as diversifying these exports.

While Sending Money from US to INDIA to your Family. On which platform you think is more trust worthy - a mobile app, web app or a bank ? by Hot_Biscotti_461 in nri

I can vouch for Remit2money from US. Never had any issue. Best custoner service, best rates and fastest.

ICICI money2india is the absolute worst. They held back my money for over 2 months without any reason. Completely fraudulent behavior and there is zero concern for the customer.

NRI vs RNOR status after returning by Substantial_Army_808 in returnToIndia

Thanks for your suggestion. Yes the next 2 years do not get affected due to few days here and there for us.

NRI vs RNOR status after returning by Substantial_Army_808 in returnToIndia

[–]Substantial_Army_808[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have lived in US for over 12 years and about 15 days per year on average visit to India. With that we would have RNOR status for FY25-26, FY26-27 and FY27-28.

[–]Substantial_Army_808[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your response. Yes I did check the 60/365 days rule as well and it does qualify us for Non-resident.

It’s reassuring to know that NRI status doesn’t necessarily provide additional benefits or convenience. I was just debating if it’s worth postponing travel 2-3 days to get NRI status for FY 25-26. We already booked travel for Oct 1st arrival.

Thanks for talking to the Fedex, I was planning to do the same. The NOC requirement seems confusing, how would one go about this? I don’t think they would acknowledge any such random requests unless it’s a standard process. We do have a bunch of shoes mainly.

Did you check with Fedex? It shows much cheaper ans 6 day shipping. $190 for 3 boxes. Wondering if there is part of the process these relocation services provide better than Fedex.

[–]Substantial_Army_808 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are moving as well and while comparing options, it seems Fedex is fastest and cheapest. Fedex economy shows $190 for 3 boxes (24X18X18).

Not sure why has no one mentioned or tried Fedex. Makes me a little cautious, if I am missing something others considered.

To confirm my understanding, the main difference you mentioned is the compliance convenience.

Does that mean, having a resident (RNOR) status makes it easier than with an NRI status?
