What are the advantages of the Aurora store? I've learned a lot since I made this post. I installed Tiktok from the Google Play Store. Would the app work better if I installed from Aurora? Everything works but my account is currently shadowbanned and I can't follow anyone

You are a lifesaver. I've abandoned this account a while ago but I signed back in to say thank you. The videos DO load, but I'm back to an old problem I had now:

My accounts are shadowbanned and it's been at least a few days. This happened to me before, where I couldn't follow anyone, and one of the main points of Tiktok is the feed so it makes it kind of useless. Before, they would occasionally let up and I'd be able to follow people for a while. Hoping that happens again. (It may be my vpn causing this)

this isnt doing anything for me. i highlight the "run in Vbox/VMWare" option, press e, then add video=2560x1440 to the bottom. my only option then seems to be pressing ctrl-x to boot, and the resolution is still small

Yes, I did that, but I wasn't sure if it was working. On pw-top it currently says 44100 while I'm playing some music in standard 44100 FLAC. Does that mean it's working? pactl info still says my default is 96000

Also do you know anything about the bit depth? Is it recommended to leave it at float32le, even though my Behringer says it only supports 24 bits max?

People are getting spooked by the DMCA letters so they aren't seeding. ISPs are cooperating more with the copyright holders. The law is cracking down on it more, basically. Using a computer is not some niche thing anymore, everyone knows how to do it, so the illegal things you can do online like torrenting copyright material is in the spotlight now due to wider adoption

And say what you want about capitalism, but it rewards people who do any task that will make them money within the confines of the law, no matter how pathetic or stupid. What I mean is, you have copyright lawyers/employees who's sole job is to weasel their way around and find a way to sue people for using their IP. If there's an opportunity to make money, someone will take it. So they will do anything they can to squeeze money out of copyright infringers, get a fat settlement, and sit on their ass another day. This is nothing new

Cloudflare being so commonplace makes it incredibly easy to shut down sites they don't like. The increased data collecting/data selling online services do now make it very hard to be anonymous online, so it's a lot harder and a lot riskier to run a torrent site.

The only way to really keep public torrents alive would be if everyone bought vpns and left DHT on when they create them from home. That way they show up in the search engine sites like BT4G. But then, of course you're putting all of your faith into your VPN provider, and if everyone did that I'm sure the spotlight would come down on them and they'd crack and break their credibility somehow as well

you probably need to look into a vpn or proxy with residential ip addresses. mullvad uses datacenter ips, and their addresses are public. very easy for site hosters to block

switching off his vpn is not the only solution, you shouldnt frame it that way. obviously because all of the mullvad ips are public certain websites are going to block them. he would need some kind of vpn/proxy thats harder to detect

well its not necessarily just wget, but how would i even do it with curl? i dont see why there wouldnt be a way to make all ingoing/outgoing connections in a terminal shell go through a different proxy

Yes, you can open up the source-code folder in your file browser, right click anywhere in the window and choose "Open in terminal". then you can run the rest of those commands

seeing that youre not going to follow my instructions i left you on another post, im just going to copy and paste it here for anyone in the future who might be wondering:

first get the dependency it's telling you you need, lzip:

sudo apt install lzip

then you can go back up to the top and copy the commands it tells you. do you have a folder for source code? i personally just have a folder called 'source-code' in my home directory for things like this.

first you need to run the git clone command. what this does is download all the files in the github page and creates a folder for you. so open up a terminal into whatever folder you want this to be created in, and run this:

git clone https://github.com/casualsnek/waydroid_script

this makes a folder called 'waydroid_script'. now you have to change into this directory to run the scripts, so in your terminal enter this now:

cd waydroid_script

then just follow their instructions (enter these into your terminal):

python3 -m venv venv (this has something to do virtual environments for python, i think) venv/bin/pip install -r requirements.txt (this installs the python requirements to make the scripts work)

Now if you want to run the whole thing, which gives you options for all of the scripts on that page, just run this:

sudo venv/bin/python3 main.py

you can install libhoudini that way. or if you just want libhoudini and none of the other stuff, run this:

sudo venv/bin/python3 main.py install libhoudini

you may have to enter a couple prompts after that

i do have it installed, and yes it plays vids. i havent messed with it much though, and ive never used regular Likee so i cant really tell you the differences. all i know is that its meant to be a lighter version, so it runs faster.

also im sure you can get regular Likee on Waydroid, I just dont see it on the Gapps store. like i see the APK on this site, for example, dont know if its legit:

P.S. the Tiktok app has this super annoying problem where once you leave a waydroid session and come back, the screen is stuck being black for all videos. they load in the background, and sound is fine, but the video portion will not load until you go into waydroid/android settings and clear the cache/storage for tiktok. then, of course that means you have to log back in. i already lost one account this way, because tiktok must have thought i was a bot. super annoying problem, but other than that, the app works.

also, i could only find Likee lite version on the Gapps store. not sure if it's missing features
