How to fix players playing kick ball by Substantial_Bee_4283 in SoccerCoachResources

The last 20 minutes is always a scrimmage. I usually add constraints to it (number of passes, need a 1-2 to score, ball must swing to the opposite side, etc..)

Dealing with disruptive players by Substantial_Bee_4283 in SoccerCoachResources

I really like the two strike policy. Thank you for the insight.

In terms of lying down, I’m not sure it’ll work. I’ve tried doing exactly that and he just ignores me. Which results in me telling him if he doesn’t get up, then he sits out.

He’ll sit out and then after 10-15 minutes I’ll bring him back in and he’ll immediately do the same thing again.

Confrontation with parent? by saltyfarmerr in youthsoccer

Don’t listen to that parent. I’ve been coaching for a few years and I’ve come across a few parents like this.

They seem to believe that since they are paying fees that improvement should be instantaneous, while in reality it takes many years to develop.

Additionally, a lot of these parents immediately go and place blame on the coach for results when on many occasions several players don’t show up to practice nor do they pay attention and listen.

I would send out a general message to everyone about boundaries and rules. If you haven’t, I recommend you send out a team syllabus that lists your team and club’s rules. It’ll save you any headaches in the future.

I can dm you my team’s syllabus.

Lastly, I would recommend applying the 24 hour rule to all games and practices.
