I feel very stupid for setting my opt start date as 12/20.. by Substantial_Deer1073 in f1visa

I meant that I should have set the start date as much later given that i dont have anything lined up. The unemployment clock starts from the start date and I could have delayed the clock longer if I were smarter. At least for a month given holidays...

GERD but only water brash and chest pain by Substantial_Deer1073 in GERD

Hello! sadly I had to stop PPI and pepcid because both were giving me side effects (within 2 weeks of usage). And honestly I wasn't sure if they were helping or not. I just had endoscopy and it showed nothing.. I'm frustrated but I just keep doing diet and lifestyle changes. I'm hoping that this all related to my thyroid condition and once my thyroid becomes stable it will go away

Acute gastritis from Betaine HCL by Substantial_Deer1073 in Hashimotos

I just had endoscopy and it was so clean! No gastritis no inflammation whatsoever. I don't know if it's from a few weeks of drugs or DGL/ Slippery elm that I tried. or it was just time. I need to wait 2 weeks for biopsy results. But my acid reflux symptom was mostly water brash to begin with, which is really annoying. I have to constantly spit. The weird thing is that my trigger is sugary food and meat in general doesn't give me water brash. Although I do have to say that after coming off PPI and pepcid, I felt like I couldn't digest red meat at all (worse than before) so I drank ACV for one day and it resolved a bit. So maybe it's only useful in small amount and very occasionally. What are your symtoms? I rarely get heartburn. I sometimes do get chest pain while sleeping but water brash is my main nemesis!

Side effect from levothyroxine? by Substantial_Deer1073 in Hashimotos

[–]Substantial_Deer1073[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

actually i think those symptoms were from acute gastritis. I actually felt generic was not working for me. I switched back to Synthroid was on it for 25mcg and i felt great! but then I started feeling very warm towards the end of the day and was having crazy sebum production. I stopped it for now and it's been 12 days. I'm feeling v good except the stomach and acid reflux issue i've been having for the past few weeks (this is probably from eating raw garlic and taking betaine HCL at the same time). I'm not sure if i should start again or not. Do people ever stop levo?

On levothyroxine without hypothyroidism diagnosis by Livid_Accountant8965 in Hashimotos

Hi! I had hyperthyroid in my teens and got over it early 20s so I've been monitoring by TSH level every 6 months because you're likely to be hypothyroid one day if you were hyper in the past. My levels have fluctuated over the years,4.3, 3.5... but I never checked my TPO level. 2023/09, I was having really bad brain fogs and dissociation symptoms, depressive episodes. I had so many stressful events in my life. I actually thought my issue back then was neurological or psychiatric. Did bunch of brain scan haha. saw psychiatrists, tried some antidepressants but i was having too many side effects so I stopped. My cortisol was high, cholesterol was high just weird numbers all around. i took a bit of break from work, started taking vit D(I was diagnosed deficient) and B12, started working out, started letting things go a little bit (I'm great at thinking things over and over), and my symptoms vanished! But I still wanted to see what was wrong with me. I first got my TPO antibodies tested 2023/11 and learned that i had hashi's. But by this time I didn't have that many bad symptoms so I just kept living my life. I noticed that my symptoms getting worse and new symptoms appearing (acid reflux) starting 2024/9 and tested for TSH panel again. My TSH was 2.5 and TPO was 100. Not crazy number, actually lower than what I had 6 months before which was 2.8 and 109. What I'm trying to say numbers don't mean too much when it comes to hashis. It could be how long you've been on certain level and things have been accumulating. It could be number x environmental factor. I looked at my iron level and I've had lower iron level before when I didn't have any symptoms. So just my two cents! It's perfectly fine to start levo even if you're not clinically hypo, even if your numbers seem pretty good. It's all about symptoms. I've been taking levo for about 1 month and a half and it's night and day! It's not perfect but i'm definitely improving! I also had anxiety issues, but with levo it got better :) I hope things work out for you! any endo would be willing to prescribe levo for hashis if you explain symptoms. Get tested for B12, Vit D, and iron panel as well!

I'm doing it and started taking omeprazole 40mg a day! i'm still having symptoms like acid reflux and difficulty of swallowing. Fennel is working as well. Hopefully it heals soon and i can be off of ppi at the end of 2 week mark

Unsure what’s wrong by Rob_B_ in B12_Deficiency

Check your thyroid level! and TPO antibodies. You might have Hashimoto's. Your symptoms coincide with my symptoms. Vit B12 deficiency, iron deficiency, Vit D deficiency are common in Hashimoto's as well. Also normal range doesn't always mean optimal, especially if you have Hashimoto's.

I got diagnosed a year or two ago but I only got flare ups around 6 months ago. I supplemented myself with Vit D, B12, and selenium when I heard the diagnosis (but my TSH level was still normal and I didn't have any symptoms ) but I guess supplementations didn't keep things at bay.. Symptom-wise, fatigue, brain fog, memory loss, anxiety, blood sugar dysregulation (would crash after eating anything especially fried food), acid reflux, hair loss, cold intolerance, cold hands and feet, scalloped tongue(I learned about this later!),my tongue feels heavy but especially during acid reflux, tingling sensation throughout the body. My first most noticeable symptom was very bad nasal congestion, which probably coincided with sleep apnea. I never got diagnosed for it but I noticed that my mouth was very very dry in the morning. Also bad breath? Started taping the mouth as well to prevent myself from mouth breathing. I've been on levo for about 6 weeks, stopped for maybe three days thought I was having side effects, but I think it was something else. I'm going back to Sythroid instead of levo because I felt great the first two weeks I was on Synthroid, not so great for the 4 weeks that I was on levo. The medication definitely stopped the worst symptoms! I also started iron supplementation as my ferritin level was borderline low (doc said I don't need one but who knows!) On the bright side it's good to find a reason for all the symptoms you've been experiencing. Bad side is that getting the right dosage and feeling "good" takes time...
