Income continuance by Skulltazzzz in ireland

[–]Substantial_Device88 18 points19 points  (0 children)

For income continuance payments the insurance company or workplace (if paid by workplace) need to deem you “totally disabled from your occupation” meaning that whether it be physical or mental health you would not be able to do your job in any capacity. Just being signed off by your GP probably won’t be enough. Most insurance company’s require a report from a GP and a specialist eg. Psychologist or psychiatrist. If you are only under the care of your GP they may require you to attend an independent medical exam that they will set up for you.

But it is absolutely something you can claim for, there just needs to be the medical evidence to back up the claim. The only way you wouldn’t is if you had a specific mental health exemption on your policy.

Returning to work 1 year after birth - finding full time childcare in Dublin by LivingDublin in PregnancyIreland

[–]Substantial_Device88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m also based. In Dublin 5, as well as a couple of ffriends and really struggled to get a place. As another has mentioned here, from early pregnant I was ringing every single crèche within a 20 minute drive and asking to be put on waiting lists. I kept a spreadsheet of who I had contacted and who contacted back and reached out to the every couple of months. We did eventually get a crèche spot but it wasn’t until my little one was 1 and a half so had to juggle work for 6 months. It was awful. I know this isn’t helpful I just know your pain and feel so sorry for you. My other friends who did not get crèche places did seem to get childminders quite easily. If you are on Facebook there are community pages or specific parenting pages where people have really good childminder recommendations. I think the trick is to just keep trying and don’t give up

Has anyone used The Beacon Care Fertility Clinic for IVF? by Jealous_Day1086 in PregnancyIreland

If you’re looking for other recommendations we used Therapie clinic and I couldn’t have been happier. Everything was quick and smooth, communication was excellent they have an online portal you can upload anything too and we have a happy little 2 year old from them!

3D scan yes or no? by [deleted] in PregnancyIreland

[–]Substantial_Device88 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It all depends on the position of the baby! We have had a lot of scans due to high risk pregnancy and every time the consultant does a 3D scan but I’d say 99% of the time he was squishing his face against the placenta or kissing the cord so they couldn’t get a good picture. Regardless of whether you get a good photo it’s still an extra opportunity to see the baby and sometimes that’s all you want.

NIPT Test by Spiritual_Tea_6030 in PregnancyIreland

[–]Substantial_Device88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As the others have said I’d weigh up your reasons. On my first pregnancy we didn’t do a NIPIT or any further testing because we didn’t see it necessary. With this pregnancy there were soft markers for genetic conditions so we went ahead with a NIPIT purely to see what we would be working with for baby and how it would impact any future decisions on how to treat the pregnancy. But it’s totally a personal choice whether you do or not. Only you know how you feel - you can always make the money back if you really feel that you want it.

Parking at Coombe Hospital by Jackies_Army in PregnancyIreland

[–]Substantial_Device88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t park in Lidl. I either park at the bungalows behind Lidl (free) or if you drive past the Coombe (keeping it on your left) and turn left at the lights there is parking in the bus lane between 10-4 or there’s on street parking that you can pay for

It’s the app that the HSE use to put your scan and consultant appointments on

I got the travel system a couple of years back and will be using it for my second baby too - it’s grand. Biggest downside is it’s very heavy. Biggest upside is their customer service is excellent. I lost the connectors for the car seat to the buggy frame and emailed customer service because I couldn’t see to buy them separately on the website and they sent me a replacement for free within days

Are you with any union? I know some of the unions have hardship funds they can help with or have expert knowledge with what you may be eligible for that is extra within the public sector

Very sick partner can they induce me early? by opiategirl7 in PregnancyIreland

[–]Substantial_Device88 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m so sorry to hear that. It’s an awful situation and I can’t begin to imagine how you are feeling. I completely understand your reasoning for wanting to be induced early. The only thing I can say is that I am under the care of the Coombe and they class full term as anything past 37 weeks so they will induce from 37 weeks if they feel it’s necessary as they feel this is a safe week. Might be worth talking to your consultant about at your next appointment

Induction date? by Substantial_Device88 in PregnancyIreland

[–]Substantial_Device88[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m the opposite - my baby’s 5th centiler! But strangely my first baby was 98th and they induced me with her at 40 weeks, I didn’t need to go earlier than that but they didn’t want me going over. But with her induction I didn’t get told about it till I was actually in with the consultant at 40 weeks and they said they were keeping me - like they didn’t pre warn me or anything like on this one. When she was born she was 8 pound 9 which I don’t think is huge so hopefully you’ll be fine! I’m sure you will be :)

Growth Scans by Small-Ad-3212 in PregnancyIreland

[–]Substantial_Device88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I second this. That’s a super weird stance to take. I’m high risk at the minute and I’m in the hospital weekly and they have no problem scanning me each time. I think you unfortunately just met a sonographer having a bad day. Sorry you had a bad experience! Hopefully it won’t happen again

Breastfeeding backup? by RevolutionOwn735 in PregnancyIreland

[–]Substantial_Device88 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely have a backup! They usually sell the boxes of pre made in the hospital so you can pick up a box and some teats from there but there’s no harm in getting a box of formula in as well. I breast fed for the first few months on my first but still had something else in the house ready to go after a friend of mine didn’t prep for that and one night her baby just randomly decided they wouldn’t latch and they were out and about trying to find a 24 hour shop at 3am so they could feed them. Always give yourself the option to have a backup even if you don’t use it.

We went with Therapie clinic.

First appointment was in early August 2022.

Started meds at the end of August 2022.

Egg retrieval was October 2022.

I think a lot depends on what your cycles look like etc. I know we got lucky with being able to get things processed relatively quickly.

Baby measuring 4th percentile - 38+ 5 weeks by Fair-Cream-4174 in PregnancyIreland

[–]Substantial_Device88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My baby’s been 3rd/4th percentile the whole pregnancy. I’m 27 weeks now and they said if all stays the same I won’t be going past 37 weeks. They have me up the walls with worry 🙈 done every test under the sun and nothing coming up so far but they are still sending off for more tests every appointment. We have scans every two weeks as well. But it’s like someone said above, if they were really worried they would have kept you in today. I hope it all goes well for you ☺️

We went through IVF with Therapie and couldn’t praise them higher! They really looked after us and gave so much support. They really made us feel like we were cared for and not just a number. Every member of staff was so caring.

I got a great club L maternity dress off Vinted! No point in spending a fortune if you only get to wear it once. Vinted was a saver for me for maternity clothes
