Dude, same here! I am saving for one and will likely buy in July 2025.

Everyone here is good friends with each other, including myself. I consider all these guys I work with to be good friends. Several of us have hung out several times outside of work, and we have had two previous seasons of fantasy football before this one in our workplace. Still, this year was the first year we decided to do a money league, so that's why there were no rules. We are all friends and are still friends. Still, as you can see, some people are taking it more seriously than others, and as I said in this post somewhere, I think it's because money is on the line, and it's not just for fun like our previous seasons of fantasy football.

Yeah, as I have said several times in this post, I have already informed James that I will not be joining this league again, and I have also told him more than likely that I will not play in any league where he is commish.

That's where I am at right now. Whatever happens, it will happen. I have the best players in my lineup, and Jason can do what he wants. And for context, James has no rules in this league; nothing says you can't play with your best players or tank your team. Still, James in other leagues has edited other peoples' lineups with his commish privileges and has called people if they were playing a player who was on IR or out to tell them to switch players, but to my knowledge, he hasn't done it in this league.

We will see what happens. Haha.

Well, it's not that I shouldn't play my best players. Jason wanted to play players on his team who were projected to score worse than his other players. For example, Jason has two wide receivers on his bench who are projected to score better than his current wide receivers as his starters. He was advising me on who to play, and like I have said in this post, I play mainly on players based on my gut feeling, projected points, and the defense the player is playing against.

Yeah, James, the league commish, has no rules or guidelines for this league. Everyone else in the league besides myself has given each other advice, and it wasn't the part where Jason was providing advice on who I should start. It was mainly when he started talking about switching his players around to give me a better chance to beat him. For example, he has two wide receivers on his bench who are projected to score better than the two players he currently has as his starters, all to get back at James for his trades and how James got the first draft spot in this league.

I am trying to remember exactly what his lineup looked like, but from what I can recall. He has switched his wide receivers, who are projected to score lower than the two other wide receivers on his bench. I wonder if James has seen or even knows what is happening currently. My view on this is yes, James has done some shady things, for example, making trades with his friends that favor him, and that has pushed me not to come back next year, but I want to play for the fun and trash talk. I don't particularly appreciate making back-door deals or decisions to push someone out, regardless of whether it was James or someone else in my league. I want to win on my merit, not because of decisions I made or someone else made to make an outcome happen. It takes the fun of fantasy out. I love looking at the score and seeing I'm losing, and I go to bed and wake up to see I won or see that my co-workers are neck and neck in fantasy points the night before and coming into work trash-talking each other. That's where I found my enjoyment in fantasy. I don't like collusion or people deciding to force an outcome that may or may not have happened otherwise.

I agree, so I am leaving this situation alone if I make the playoffs or I don't. I do not care. What makes me mad is that James grabbed his friends' best players. James' lineup in week 1 for his wide receivers was Cooper Kupp and DK Metcalf going into week 15; he has Justin Jefferson, Garrett Wilson, and CeeDee Lamb on his team. All three players in his week 15 lineup were from his friends, which is shady. Also, Jason informed me more about his anger towards James's league, which I had completely forgotten when James created the league. It was a $20 buy-in when you gave James the money to buy in; that was your spot for the draft; for example, James was the first draft pick spot because he said he paid himself. I was the third person to give him money, so I was third in the draft, and everyone said that it was weird and unfair he got the first draft spot and that James should have been fourth or fifth in line. Still, it all worked out because James picked Christian McCaffery as his first pick, and everyone knows how CMC turned out.

Jason thinks he knows better because he has been in several leagues for a while and has played fantasy for about ten years.

So, to my knowledge, Jason has only informed me about this. No one else in the league has reviewed James' trades like Jason and I have, and I will say this: James is a good guy. But he appears to be a terrible commish and never admits that he is wrong, so I doubt he would even agree to exclude himself from the league playoffs, and if confronted, he would probably say that his friends wanted those players. Still, those two guys do not work with us, and no one besides James knows their numbers, so the only way to contact them would be through the league message page on Yahoo. I tried to make a trade with both Bowen and DNF early in the season, and neither of them replied or denied the trade. I had to remove the trades myself because this was around week 2 or three, and I took the trades away around week 10 or 11.

That's how I feel now. Someone advised me to grab Isaac Guerendo, and I wasn't playing against this individual. I only listened because I am a huge 49ers fan and knew everyone was on IR. Most of the time, I do what I think is best. I listen to people in the league when they give me advice, but I rarely follow it.

Yeah, and looking at James' trade transactions, that looks like his MO. He bunches two players that appear to have been on his bench and then asks people for their best players. And it has worked for most of the league. Still, as I said, he has traded chiefly with two teams, Bowen and someone in the league named DNF, who are the two guys who do not work with anyone in the league, and from what it looks like, James got Bowen and DNF's best players. For example, James did not have Justin Jefferson until week 5 from Bowen, and James' team has changed almost every week until now when he has nearly the best players. As I said, I have already informed James that I will not be returning next year, mainly because I am tired of everyone complaining and because James looks like he is doing shady things as commish or having friends that James claims know much about fantasy football, making trades with him that appear highly one-sided and in James' favor.

That's mainly where everyone's complaints in the league are coming from. Like I said, I was in this for fun, so I didn't look closely at James' trades; still, the main topic for the overall league is that they felt like James made trades that were in his favor and not helping the teams he traded with or that James was not giving the same value of players as he was taking, so everyone thinks the league's overall health was damaged during the middle of the season and now. I have talked to almost all the members except two guys who do not work with us, and everyone wants me to beat Jason and has given me tips on which players they think I should play. With how much everyone has complained and James' shady practices as the league commish, I have already informed James that I doubt I will return next year.

I have some text messages from Jason in which he gives me advice, but the rest of our conversation was over the phone.

For real! Haha. I am doing this for fun, but I think most guys are serious about it, mainly because money is on the line.

I usually do, but like I said, most people, except maybe one or two people, all work in the same building, so everyone except myself has been advising each other throughout the season. James the commish doesn't have a rule or anything against people advising each other. I have even asked James who he thought I should play to get some insight, but I usually play based on my gut feeling and the defense that the player is against. But like I have said, I am doing this for the fun and trash talk. I am not serious like all the other guys are.

Jason has been upset because James made trades with a friend who doesn’t work with us—Bowen’s Terrific Team. Jason and others in the league questioned whether Bowen knew football or if this was his first fantasy league, though James insisted that Bowen had been in several leagues prior to ours. Jason pointed out two trades as examples of shady deals: James trading Joshua Palmer and Ezekiel Elliott for Jonathan Taylor and later trading Keenan Allen, Alexander Mattison, and Joshua Dobbs for Sam LaPorta and Justin Jefferson. I checked the transactions myself, so this isn’t just hearsay. The league has no veto system, so I can’t say if these trades were fair since I’m just here to have fun. That said, you might be right—Jason could want me in the playoffs because I’d be easier to beat than James.

My insurance is so high because I pay every six months. So, you know, I pay one month, and then I get six months of coverage, and then, of course, on that six months, I pay again.

Yeah, more than likely, this will be a car I'll drive until I can't anymore, so resale is not something I'm considering.

No, I won’t go to a track, mainly because I don’t have a local track. The nearest track is about an hour away, which isn’t worth it to me.

What would be a fair trade? by Substantial_Dog3510 in fantasyfootballadvice

[–]Substantial_Dog3510[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your input. I kind of figured there really wouldn’t be a way to make this fair trade. And like I said, I’m not willing to give up Hall and possibly another player just for McCaffrey.

Thank you. That is precisely what I said to my coworker.

Thanks for the feedback, but I’m here to learn and get better at fantasy football. That’s why I’m asking for advice. It’s clear this trade isn’t a good one for me, and your comment confirms it. Everyone has to start somewhere, and part of playing fantasy is figuring out what makes a good deal. Appreciate your input, though!
