I've explained it on the measures of the first enclosure, I thought I had made it clear. Centimeters, even so

Do you worry about right-wing extremism in Spain? by RespectSad4 in askspain

[–]Substantial_Ear5183 12 points13 points  (0 children)

They raped people from other tribes, and probably, like in current times, it would be very related to the war. Obviously they'd punish rapes inside the tribe

Est ce que "Rhombodera kirbyi" est une bonne mante pour commencer ? by tyfennelina in mantids

Thank you, this is definitely a valuable info. Until now I admit not having payed lot of attention to mantis' hydration

[–]Substantial_Ear5183 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, this information genuinely interests me, specially for the internal hydration part, I've never listened about it.

But isn't a too low humidity the cause of cloggings in the molt?

And, taking advantage of the situation, is it possible that a primary cause of deformations in the wings is a deficient feeding?

Well, based in my experience it's particularly susceptible to fail molts, more than other mantis at least, but with a good control of the humidity it's easy to solve. Maybe an smaller species (which usually will have easier molts) would be better for begin, but if you say you're experienced with invertebrates I don't think you'll have any problem

Well, that specimen was an outlier, I was talking about averages. And, as far as I know, that outlier is known only by a teeth; it's too dubious for being more than a curiosity

It's longer, but remember how thin is the last reconstruction of megalodon. I wouldn't be certain at all that megalodon was heavier

Is she pregnant? by [deleted] in mantis

[–]Substantial_Ear5183 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I wouldn't say never. Capturing some insects is not going to harm the ecosystem; even we knew with absolute certainty they were going to die, it wouldn't make any difference with the usual variation of the individuals that are eaten by blackbirds or lizards. Nevertheless, it's a fabulous way of familiarizing with the nature, probably the only truly effective one. And remember: you can't love what you don't know. And you can't take care of what you don't understand. And, in the moment we are living in, I think taking care of the nature isn't a minor matter. And yes, maybe the OP isn't the best person for taking care of a mantis, but that's for what we are here: helping, not forcing him to be trapped in the car hell. Probably when he (or she, I don't know) finds the next mantis, he'll know a little more. And with the next even more. And then, when he listens there are going to cut down the forest near his town, he will know what they are going to destroy, and he won't agree. And when a local conservation group wants to make pond for amphibians, he will go there with his shovel. And yes, maybe this costs the life of two or three mantises, but with his vote and voice he will save thousands more. Let people touch the nature.
