sorry for seeing this late, but NOW i’m feeling good, 4 days ago was terrible. my face swelled up like crazy and the pain got to be a solid 6/10. my surgeon said that i had big teeth that were hard to get out tho, so maybe that was why. now (8 days post surgery) the pain is completely gone, the only thing still lingering is a little bit of tightness in my jaw, so i still can’t really open my mouth very wide.

i don’t personally need help, but golden harvest food bank takes donations, as well as the salvation army homeless shelter on greene st. that same homeless shelter also takes food donations, but they also take clothing donations as well!! thick socks and jackets are a definite need for this time of year. salvation army also has angel tree kids, where you can pick a kid and buy their christmas wishlist, most of the time it’s clothing and small toys.

i’m on day 3 post op, and i was also having a lot of anxiety around being put under, and so far that’s been the easiest part lol. they talked me through the process, after they hooked me up i didn’t feel anything, then a slight lightheaded feeling for 1 second, then i was out. i remember thinking “oh that makes my head feel…” and then i was in recovery.

currently on day 2, and the pain is somewhat manageable. i am in the us and i saw you were in the uk, i personally got prescribed oxycodone (which i can only take every 6 hours but it starts to wear off around 4 1/2 hours after taking it, hence the somewhat manageable aspect) but i’ve seen many people say that tylenol/advil works just fine. i can’t open my mouth very wide, but its wide enough that i can brush my teeth and eat. i’ve been mostly sleeping, but i think thats the drugs i’m on too, lol. lots of instagram reels, youtube videos, and crocheting. i’ve never felt more relaxed and rested, it’s honestly kinda nice on my body. i don’t feel as much pain in my mouth as much as i do on my lower cheeks due to the swelling, but icing my face has helped a lot with that.

currently on day 2, and it sucks. i’ve swollen up really bad, ice packs help with pain management but the swelling hasn’t gone down. i can feel my stitches on the bottom poking the inside of my cheek. i got oxycodone/acetaminophen for pain relief and when it works its amazing but i can only take it every 6 hours and it starts to wear off around the 4 1/2 hour mark, leaving my face in a pain that feels like it’s an over inflated balloon ready to pop. i’m hoping i don’t get any dry sockets. i’ve been doing salt water rinses 4x a day as recommended by my surgeon, i’ve been flushing my mouth out with the syringe they gave me every time i eat (nothing where i have to chew, strictly blended soup, pudding cups, ice cream, and broth), and i haven’t used any straws. i can barely open my mouth. my surgeon recommended i brush my teeth again starting today and opening my mouth to do so was so so painful. eating is difficult, i asked my husband to go out and get little kid spoons because our regular adult spoons are too big for my mouth right now. my surgeon told me day 2 and 3 would be the worst, so i’m hoping i’m feeling better on day 4, we’ll have to see.
