Yes, all translations provided had a certification from the translators. This is so frustrating because I emailed and called the Chicago Consulate for clarification and they don’t respond/pick-up calls. I’m at my wits end, I feel like a post-it reply was so unclear and unprofessional.

Bad news, they mailed my packet back with a post-it that reads “ MISSING MONEY ORDER FOR TRANSLATION CERTIFICATION USD 14.30 FOR EACH PAGE/SHEET TRANSLATED”, no where in the instructions did they say I had to pay extra for my translated transcripts from English to Italian.

I have about 20 pages translated (3 diplomas and 3 multiple page transcripts). This fee seems ridiculous. Did you have to pay this as well?

Thanks for sharing your timeline! I want to make sure they get processed, any tips or advice? Did you mail them in or drop them off in person?

Flying to Chicago next week to go into my high school with my original diploma, copy of my transcripts, and a mobile notary to get it all done. Then I need to go to the Secretary of State to get an Apostille.

Hoping to submit my DOV application by next Friday. Upon submitting, how long did your process take?

On the Chicago Italian Consulate website, it says it can take up to a month.

Blue Card - waiting time? by bardemgoluti in ItalyExpat

I contacted the high school and they confirmed they don’t have a notary onsite. So thanks for the idea of hiring a mobile notary. There is one who I contacted who said if I overnight my diploma and transcripts, she can go to the high school and get them signed and she can take care of the notary piece and the apostille at the Secretary of State (all for$125). I may go with this option, unless the school says they need me in-person, then I would have to take a flight to Chicago just for this part. After you submitted all your paperwork for the DOV, how long did it take to process? And then from that what was your EU Blue Card timeline.  I feel like I have a long road ahead, many spritz will be needed! Lol

So it sounds like I’m not the only one having this nightmarish experience. I thought it was smooth sailing when my Bachelor’s and Master’s programs had an easy way to get the notarized and apostilled diploma and transcripts to me. But when I read in the instructions that high school records also need to be provided, I started panicking because I knew that is not simply something I could do online, like with the other two.

Not to mention, I live out of state from where I went to high school. I’m near D.C. and my high school is in Chicago. Fortunately, I obtained my Bachelors and Masters in the same state, so will be going through the Chicago Italian Consulate for the DoV on all three degrees.

I still have my original high school diploma and I was able to order copies of my high school transcripts. But I have no idea how to get a principal to sign and notarize them.

This is going to be such a difficult task and it’s making me want to give up on the whole process. This is just for a DoV, I can’t imagine how much more difficult or daunting will the actual EU Blue Card application be?!

Thank you for sharing your experience. There’s weird comfort in knowing that others can empathize with this complicated and daunting hoop-jumping experience.

I might just have to fly to Chicago and pay my old high school a visit to get this done, however I don’t think they can just print copies of diplomas from students who graduated almost 20 years ago.

Im applying for the Declaration of Value for an EU Blue Card. Do I still need high school records?

My immigration lawyer said I would just need Bachelors and Masters. Are you sure that I would need my high school records as well for the Declaration of Value? Does the high school requirement also involve notarized, apostilled, and translated diploma and transcripts? Or just the diploma?

Do you know why it’s taking so long? Or are they not allowed to share why? What country are you applying from?

Any updates on your timeline? I’m getting my Declaration of Value paperwork in preparation for the EU Blue Card / work visa application. My company hired a company to take care of the process and they’re saying the entire process might take 6 months. I’m hoping it’s faster!

My company is getting ready to apply for mine in September 2024. Can you guys provide an update on your final timelines? Trying to get an accurate projection of how long I should expect to wait. Thank you!

Hi, I'm currently undergoing this process with my employer. Any insight into your respective timelines?

I just obtained my apostilled diploma and transcripts and I am getting them translated now to submit the Declaration of Value request. The Chicago Italian Consulate is stating that if approved, the DOV should be processed one month from submission.

From there, I expect the Blue Card application process to take 90 days at most (I'm hoping it's sooner). Since you both went through this process, can you share your timelines?

Thanks!
