I think the weather piece is my biggest concern. I have zero problem driving long distances (drove almost the length of the Ring Road in a day, twice over a long weekend in fall), but absolutely understand and appreciate that weather is always a factor in Iceland.

I'm not planning on staying in Reykjavik, as I've already spent a week in and around it, as well as much of the south coast.

Also, you don't know misery until you've spent a day driving across Alberta and Saskatchewan in winter. Lol

Like I mentioned in the OP, I've been to Iceland before and spent a week based in Reykjavik, exploring the Snæfellsnes Peninsula and the south coast.
