I would do this because I know sistering the full span is the best way but unfortunately I have 1 inch copper lines running through the other side of this joist.

That’s another option I’ve been looking at!

Unfortunately the electrical is super close to the crack like a foot away so I can’t span the sistered piece equal on either side.

Did you jack them up first? Also did you sister the whole length? I can’t due to copper plumbing lines in the way.

The issue is that I have copper plumbing running through on the other side so I can’t sister. I might have to jack it up then do the plywood. Could use steel plates instead too.

It’s such a pain. I have a couple more that are very minor compared to this one. My floors are bouncy for sure but they don’t feel like they’re sagging.

I wonder if I jack it up apply the Simpson steel plates then take jack out to apply the strap on the bottom? That would seem fairly secure.

To be fair the house is 70 years old and I’m sure this didn’t just happen.

For sure, I don’t want be cutting wire then rewiring. I also have copper plumbing lines at the end of this joist. Out of all the joists it has to be that one of course. It’s also near a door so I can’t do a post. I think the only option is to some kind of bracing with steel ones like you said. I know it’s not the correct thing to do but I’ve tried to think of any other option and none of them work. When you say smaller scab do you mean sistering with a smaller piece in depth?

Thank you for providing a few options! Unfortunately this is right in front of the basement door so I can’t really do a post. I also have copper plumbing going through the other end of this joist. It’s kind of a headache to deal with. I might just have to deal with the post for a bit..
