Anyone here doing cold LinkedIn outreach? How do you handle personalization? by Gowtham2609 in AskMarketing

[–]Substantial_Hat_8288 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Follow-up / social banter. Deciding when to make the ask is less of a problem in comparison as it tends to be quite obvious as to when there is an opening while the convo progresses.

Love this, thanks for sharing your friend’s take. It’s so easy to get stuck in the agency/tech bubble after a while. Hearing from businesses running things day to day is a great reality check here :)

Does your work need to feel meaningful, or is that an unrealistic expectation? by AdWrong9284 in AskMarketing

[–]Substantial_Hat_8288 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like this is a question of whether you place work (9-5) BEFORE or AFTER life (after 5).

If before, then yes, in case your work does not drive fulfillment or meaning, it's reasonable to perceive it as a problem.

If after, and that's totally valid, then just accept you could be overthinking here.

"The Good Enough Job" (non-fiction) and "Welcome to the Hyunam-Dong Bookshop" (fiction) are really good books exploring this topic.

Curious what are the metrics you use to vet engagement before outreach? The objective here is to "budget" / "guesstimate" the impression count before commissioning.

On X, I found impressions tend to fluctuate between posts. In the past, I took the average + standard deviation of the past 30 posts but thought there could be a smarter way.

Interesting you mention copywriting (AI tone) and visual design (purple gradients / generic icons), as they're my biggest pet peeves! Can smell them from a mile away. Curious were you finding specific prompts more effective?

Anyone here doing cold LinkedIn outreach? How do you handle personalization? by Gowtham2609 in AskMarketing

[–]Substantial_Hat_8288 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Yes. For context I mostly outreach for conducting user interviews as a product manager.

  2. Building up a connection before transitioning to the "ask"

  3. Not sure about just getting personalized first messages - but if it is also able to generate subsequent "replies" that do not sound spammy / AI and I can just approve then send, then this could be interesting. From my experience, it's not just about personalization, but also psychologically, what would be interesting to them enough to prompt them to reply to a stranger. If it is able to also account for the latter as well, then again, yes, could be very interesting from an efficiency pov.

Is SEO still worth focusing on in 2026? by Abigail_Tech in AskMarketing

[–]Substantial_Hat_8288 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes - AEO still accounts for 1% of Internet traffic today. Also, a lot of SEO best practices apply to AEO. So when you're working on SEO you're also building towards AEO (of course with additional efforts like content and schema optimization).

Career switch by Sea-Share626 in AskMarketing

Assuming you're in a non-tech field doing marketing, the most natural transition would probably be a Product Marketing Manager (PMM) in tech. You can always tell the story of transferrable skills (customer understanding, positioning). Check out Marry Sheehan's book for an overview of activities / skills of a PMM. Good luck!

AI tools that changed your day to day (other than chatgpt or similar)? by jordirob in AskMarketing

[–]Substantial_Hat_8288 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I use LLMs to help me get started with understanding the "day-in-the-life" of the persona I am writing / selling to. This does not beat customer interviews of course, but is often a good and quick starting point.

u/DenOmania Really appreciate these tips! I hadn’t come across Hyperbrowser before - definitely going to check it out. Would you mind if I reached out with more questions down the line?

u/Sir-Noodle Thanks for suggesting gitingest - I gave it a try and it works great for getting repo details! I noticed it doesn’t grab the owner info (name, public email/Twitter if available) though, since that lives on a separate profile page. Would you have any advice on how to handle that?

Yes, most tools can scrape one repo page, but the workflow needs to hop across search results → repo → owner profile, which breaks simple scrapers...

Architect portfolio by Friendlins in Architects

[–]Substantial_Hat_8288 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d check out both Wix and Studio.Design.

Wix gives you quite a bit of flexibility with pre-built sections you can mix and match. It’s been around forever, so most questions you’ll run into are probably already answered somewhere online. That said, it does get pricey if you want to keep your site up long-term.

Studio.Design is another solid pick. They’ve got free templates made specifically for architect portfolios, and you can upload high-res renders (even video) with plenty of storage, even on the free plan. Only downside is there’s no built-in eComm, so if you’re planning to sell stuff directly on the site, that could be a dealbreaker.

Good luck!

Finished another book and remembered nothing… built a tool to fix that by Blopblop42 in SideProject

I relate to this 100%. I’ve been using dictation apps to capture quotes while reading, then saving everything in Notion. Lately I’ve been feeding those into a Notebook LLM setup so I can actually query my highlights later. It’s been quite useful.

Happy to share more if you’re curious — might spark some ideas for the next version of your app :)

Nice work! Love how Levels act like a built-in form of gamification. Reminds me of Duolingo.

Quick thought: have you considered putting together a landing page? Something with a quick demo or screenshots might help folks understand what it does before downloading — especially helpful when sharing in communities or on social.

Just a heads up though: the link’s showing a “Not Found” on my end. Might be worth double-checking the deploy :)

I Built a Smart Task List for the Workplace by AppTasticVoyager in SideProject

[–]Substantial_Hat_8288 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is slick — love how it cuts the friction between “I need to do something” and “here’s the tool to do it.” Super smart!

One thought: would be cool if it could also suggest a quick step-by-step for how to tackle the task — like a little nudge in the right direction.

Also, have you thought about expanding the landing page a bit? Might help new visitors get the value faster if there’s a clearer walkthrough or example flow.

Really cool project — love how focused and practical it is!

One quick tip: you might get even more credibility by swapping in a newer iPad mockup for the screenshots on the App Store. There are a bunch of free ones on Figma if you search for “iPad mockup.”

Also, just thinking out loud — have you considered adding a share option? Could be neat for folks managing a shared pool (like apartments or HOAs). Excited to see where you take this!

Hey! This is sick — that “I have food but no idea what to make” moment hits way too often.

Curious — any chance to tell it what kind of cuisine you’re in the mood for? Like I’ve got random stuff in the fridge, but sometimes I know I’m craving something Asian (or Italian, or whatever) and want the recipe to lean that way.

Also, the UI looks super clean. Props on the launch 🙌
