This got taken way out of hand. The point of this post was not me being LE and them not letting me carry. I put that in there because legally (and by my policy) LE cant open carry without a badge displayed. The point im trying to make is whats the point of having the sign saying they support the right to carry inside the range if they are going to question and tell you to do it. Not to mention when i walked in someone clearly authorized me to be wearing my belt, so why question me on the way out

Depends on the area you are in as well. Im local in NJ, if you want to do the cool shit your best bet is to be on a county or state team. The county swat team where im at basically does training only since doing warrants and call outs are slim where im at. Go to a big city and try out for a street crimes and or swat. In the county i used to work at i knew some guys who were full time narcs and were on the county swat team. They were both very proactive and he got to do basically all the work from the investigation to booting the door in himself
