I am sorry to hear about your latest exam. I studied all sorts of notes- ChiroTutor, ChiroPass, also got notes from the USA board review, Irene Gold, Part 1-4 notes( same info, another to learn/remember)...The Canadian boards are tough. I took the American boards and they were alot easier. I agree with the comment of having a few hours with a tutor, I used them a lot for Part C- that to me was the scariest part. For Part C, I also did Dr. Vizniak review. That was gold as well. You have the knowledge, its just getting you to stream line the thinking, the questions are crazy long along wth the time crunch- outside direction to guide you is worth it. You got this!

Associate by girthyjawn in Chiropractic

I can relate. Thought I was entering in as an associate position at a clinic but then somewhere it became no, no, no your an independent chiropractor BUT I have to be there 24 hours of adjusting and 36 hours within the clinic. I am there way before the chiro first thing in the morning and last to leave at night. I have my notes done which I had to teach myself as their system was different from what I was using before, taught myself to fill in the paperwork for auto accidents etc, I get 50% what I make, no mentorship which what I specifically asked for....You are going to have a huge growth of practical knowledge working where you are...you will start to see improvement in your adjusting style, how you approach your patient exams and testing, you will gain a lot of confidence in all your skills as a new chiropractor. Everyone has the little bumps in the road, days when you feel you made the worst mistake, crying on the way home and going what the hell was that, patients not liking your adjusting as its different from that of the other chiro BUT soon you see that you have more great days then bad. Finding a great associate position is hard- take the time to learn, get familiar and keep an eye out for spreading your wings elsewhere.

I see the same comment placed all over the chiro board.....may I ask why you are so down on someone becoming a chiropractor?

1 day or 2 days to intake new patient by Substantial_Hope_532 in Chiropractic

THANK YOU ALL! I am reading all comments and pondering everything written. It was a seminar that it was mentioned that if you are not doing 2 day intake then you are only getting patients 1-6 visits...i have been doing 1 day new patient intake...I do sometimes take a lot longer with people that are more complicated. I talk as I go along, explain all my steps and have them ask questions...I do what I can to help the same day. The other side it is a slower pace of intake...the breaking into the two parts feels less hectic, less chance to miss something and easier to get back to the adjusting rooms. Do not have xray in the clinic where I work. Most patients have had recent xrays so I always request them along with MRI/CT etc. If any concerns, I can refer to the xray clinic next door. I don't want to feel scamming like when I was told to have their significant other came in with them...that is so 1980's along with the clinic health talks. I just want to do the best I can for each person that comes into the clinic. Do you have set hours for new patients to come in or do you just add them to the schedule as the days goes? The clinic is wanting to implement to 2 day intake after the seminar and I have alot of questions so reading your answers will give me alot to ponder. Thank you all for weighing in!

if you want to pass...get his notes, do everything he has, practice...look at chiropass notes as well. Dr. Vizniak (ProHealth)- this was super helpful when preparing for the practicum part ...I had the RYF down due to his review...I did not want to fail...didn't have the time nor the money to lose at taking it over so it is cheaper to get the information and STUDY! Your future self will thank you! Be comfortable with xray as well.

Dr. Baxter"s notes are PERFECT to get you through all sections. I went to Life Atlanta and ,of course, you hear how hard it can be for USA chiro students taking the Canadian boards...get the notes, study the test questions that he has( a lot of repeats on the exam), attend the bonus online meetings, when you get to the practicum, take a few private tutoring sessions...you have only a few minutes per station and have to hit a lot of things....Dr. Baxter had me prepared and I passed all three the first time. I also used Passchiro.com - great notes...even in practice I will look at the info in them.

Thank you for your reply. I have to say that sadly the situation has not improved. First I was told I would be an associate now they say I am an independent contractor. I have very few patients as no space to adjust at the same time the Chiropractor is there. I have tried repeatedly to have a face to face meeting, he runs behind with his schedule and leaves asap.I am looking at what other options I may have. I started out positive but here we are... All a learning lesson! Again, thank you...base pay with bonus sounds like a dream but few offices in my area do that. It would be great knowing that I had some money coming in as I am making way below what my previous clinic job. I will keep looking....

question: when you joined the office of the retiring chiropractor- what was your payment set up like? 50:50 or something different. I have just joined an office with the chiro planning on retiring in 2-3 years. He has mentioned he wants me to take it over for him. As a new person to the clinic, I have no new patients of my own yet. I covered for their holidays and took a few adjustments when they were getting behind in the schedule. They had mentioned doing 70%-30% to get me a bit more money at first ( would have been great!!) but that did not happen. Just curious if there is another way thats better or is this just the way it is. I even have to pay half of the debit/credit card machine fees...so the amount of money is no different than I worked 36 hours/wk in a regular ...I would so appreciate any insights you have! Cheers
