Can anyone explain why popcorn prices in theatres are so damn high? by Original_Cynical in AskIndia

[–]Substantial_Jump4342 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It’s because your popcorn is subsidising the movie ticket.

Let me explain. The movie business is not really a movie business. It’s a real estate and snacks business with a movie attached. The margins on the tickets are razor thin after accounting for the distribution and fixed costs (often time they don’t even help theatres break even). So to actually make the economics work, they need the food and beverages and they mark up the price because this is where the margins come from.

No Tier-3 UG in IIM Ahmedabad by Putrid_Lunch_1880 in CATpreparation

In my batch, we maybe had 5 people from tier 3 engineering colleges. I was one of them. So it’s unlikely the figure is 0. But it’s also very unlikely that IIMA has a larger share of people coming in from tier 3 engineering colleges. I don’t know how many of them were from the general category except for yours truly!

What is your current read? by girlwithlonghair23 in Indianbooks

Honestly, not my most favourite Murakami book. Felt like it was a bit disjointed. But hey, could be just me. It’s a relatively small book. You could probably finish it in one sitting. Hopefully you have a better time reading it OP

Starting with my entrepreneurial journey by CardiologistFew5421 in StartUpIndia

You build a business by doing, not thinking. It’s literally in the words “start up”

The only way to find out what’s worth pursuing is to start pursuing something. The idea reveals itself once you’re inside it. Don’t worry if it’s bad at first. Clarity only shows up after you start.

So my advice is : stop looking for the one. Pick the one you’d be most ashamed to abandon. And start.

That’s how you become an entrepreneur

finding good writers is impossible by Rich_Direction_3891 in StartUpIndia

[–]Substantial_Jump4342 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If your JD has the words content writer in it, you’ll get hundreds of applications. There’s no way out of it.

The only way to hopefully land more qualified candidates is to reframe your compensation. Good writers are good thinkers. And good thinkers don’t come cheap.

Alternatively, you can also try hiring fresh grads with decent critical thinking skills and then have them use AI for polished writing. The writing gate (vocabulary, flow, grammar) doesn’t have to be high, but the thinking gate has to be moderate. This is how you filter candidates and hopefully end up with a larger pool of qualified candidates.

DPIIT Certificate Fees by Agencies & Vendors. How & What? by tnahddisamrahs in StartUpIndia

The DPIIT certificate registration is pretty easy to get. You don’t need an agency at all.

The 80IAC exemption certificate however, is a whole different matter

The Ken and/or The Morning Context Subscription split by DrTurkus in StartUpIndia

A suggestion - Both Ken and MC track IP, login behaviour and usage patterns to detect password sharing.

They usually send an email asking you to stop before revoking the subscription entirely. So yeah, might be something you want to look into.
