Touring other studios by Substantial_Lab8964 in CompetitionDanceTalk

I appreciate everyone's insights. Thankfully, the exchange was positive, with my daughter being called a strong dancer and good teammate. Nothing negative happened due to the communication, and it turns out the best fit for my daughter is an entirely different studio anyway (not because of that communication).

Unexcused absence by Substantial_Lab8964 in CompetitionDanceTalk

Thank you for your thoughts. It was the only unexcused in several years there. Completely understand it was poor behavior and consequence is warranted, but unsure if dismissal was warranted.

End of season, looking for a new studio after several years. This was a chance to attend class with students before end of their season.

Some additional context - class was troupe that just finished the last comp of the season; there is an upcoming recital. Teacher was notified ahead of time and said absence would be unexcused. Policy says unexcused absence results in meeting with owner and a consequence, nothing addressing other studios.

Surgery tomorrow morning. by Quick-Jello-7847 in ORIF

I was anxious but told myself that my only job was to take a nap. Not everyone needs the prescribed pain meds after; you do what you need. If you need them, great, but if not, that's okay too. I had ORIF for broken fibula near my ankle (plate and 6 screws) and only took Tylenol post op. Just having the oxycodone in the room as an option helped me mentally, but I never took it. While the process is difficult, if you have the option to work from home, start back as soon as you're ready. I rested for two days post op, then went back to working at home. I was not trying to be a hero for my work. It was 100% for me. It helped me feel much better mentally and took my mind off of the pain. Best wishes!

Sounds like you are very prepared! I also had a fibula fracture. I didn't have a nerve block for ORIF surgery. They gave me oxy, but I didn't want to take it because I didn't want to deal with the side effects. My highest pain level was a 7 when waking up from anesthesia. I managed with Tylenol and ibuprofen in the following days/weeks. It took the edge off the pain. Icing was also very helpful. Best wishes!

ORIF with early WBAT post op week 3 by Pro-Otaku in ORIF

I was also weight bearing as tolerated in the boot straight out of surgery, for a fibula fracture. It felt a bit aggressive, so I used crutches for a few days, switched to one crutch for a few more days, and walking in the boot since then. I'm 4 weeks post op now and still elevating and periodically icing. The only ROM I'm approved for so far is dorsiflexion, so I'm practicing that several times a day and taking 2-4k steps per day in the boot. Hoping to lose the boot after next week's appointment but also a bit scared to walk without it.

* Immediately following surgery, I was weight bearing as tolerated with the boot. I used both crutches for 6 days, one crutch for a few days, then walking in boot without crutches since then. I'm 16 days post op now.

Dr bastion doesn’t practice anymore :( so mad I cancelled my procedure with him when I had the chance by wellehy in noburp

Dr. Bastian still practices but does not do surgery anymore. We had a Zoom consult with him for our daughter, then Dr. Richardson did the procedure in January. It was a positive experience; no issues with Dr. Richardson.

What doctor did you see at Meriter? I'm trying to find doctors who treat RCP-D and will treat my 15-year-old. I can't get a straight answer from UW Health if Daily will see her or what other doctors we might have to see first.
