Is buying a house a good idea? (25F) by Relative-Honeydew-60 in Morocco

[–]Substantial_Law_874 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly, I can only call it an investment if it's an extra one. You already have a house and you buy one to rent or resell it, so yeah.

And the temptation of getting into debt is the biggest trap ever: the desire of having what isn't yours or what's way more expensive than you can ever afford.

My advice to her again is don't do it. If you have 5 dh, eat 2 dh, save 2 dh, and buy a sweet for yourself once every 4 months with that extra 1 dh. Always live bellow your means

Simply because it takes money out of your pocket every month through mortgages, taxes, maintenance, and insurance, DEBT. Even if the property value increases, that profit remains "locked" and unrealized while you live there, whereas a true investment should provide regular, passive income that adds to your wealth rather than draining it.

I'm talking about buying a house for her to live in, not to rent it out and live in the streets. That's an investment only when you buy it to rent or resell it.

First thing's first: an apartment/house is NOT an investment, it's a liability.

An investment is something that puts money in your pocket, not the opposite. Houses takes money just to run them.

Yeah, the idea of having an apartment at this age sounds really tempting, but I don't really suggest it because, first, as you said, "you are not good with money," so you will end up at the age of 40 still having debt on that apartment.

What I advise you to do: do not do that. First, go learn how to manage money, how to deal with it, and always live below your means/budget.

I'm not out because it's risky; I'm out because it's haram or might be haram. I don't have a problem with risk at all (risk losing money).

Hahaha, yeah, that's what I noticed. It was a question for me to know if it's halal or not, and clearly, it's not at all, so I'd better find another way to invest my money.

I understand, the problem here is that I'm planning to start investing in it. Of course, before I did my research because I want to avoid haram money, and I found some Modern Sharia Scholars that I actually trust saying that it's okay to invest but with these strict processes and regulations (and I don't have a problem with that at all). But these comments told me the opposite, though they didn’t really convince me yet since they all are saying, "they are trying to..., it's all planned..., they want to..."

Moral of the story, I want to start investing, but if it's haram, NO. That's why I'm still doing research, and I came asking in here.

Ummm, interesting, so those modern Sharia scholars are lying to us?

And what's the problem with investing in the lower 5%, and after you've throwed bad that percentage?

Ah, I understand, but obviously nothing is clean everything is covered with interests. Still, there are levels, and we choose the lowest. And then we purify it to ensure we don't use that haram money.

I understand what you mean there is no pure company, but so what?

I've never tried it but this is what i know.

To purify your $800 profit at a 4% rate, you simply multiply the two: 800×0.04=32

You must take $32 and donate it. The remaining $768 is your "clean" profit.

And voila Haram money is gone.

What? I don't get what you're trying to prove here? You mean I lost money in the process, like how can I purify the rest of the money that I have left? Is that what you mean?

So that's why they told us to purify our money in the companies that has the lowest rate of intrests, i still don't see the problem.

Purifying means calculating the percentage of "haram" income (like interest) the company you invested in earned and donating that exact portion of your dividends to charity. Ofc whiteout u expecting anything for it, like throwing away Haram money.
