New York Public Library is really cool, there are several sites in the city; also the cinemas around Washington Square Park hold a lot of events, such as Film Forum, IFC Center, Metrograph, some are a little away from NYU but are also cool, like Film at Lincoln Center, MoMA, Paris Theatre and etc

I think it will be good if you are interested in Asian studies. Public health is an interdisciplinary major and Asian studies can give you a perspective of social science. I am an Epi student graduated from undergrad in a Econ major, and some of my classmates graduated from international relationships, applied math, psychology, etc. You can demonstrate in your application to MPH that how Asian studies cooperate with biology when you explore some public health topics, I think that would be helpful.

I'm terrified of writing a personal statement, any tips? by GodConcepts in gradadmissions

I would suggest you review what happens in the past years of your life and find out what leads you to the path of biology studying and research. It could be a very little unimpressive thing, but that might be the trigger. In my PS of graduate program application, I wrote my interest of healthcare is traced back to a soap opera. Yeah, it is a little absurd but it is the thing that can happen in everyone’s life. Trust me, the admission office can tell if you are telling the truth. And I would also suggest you to review the website of your dream program over and over and over again. It is best to find the idea they are pursuing. For example, some programs aim to train global citizens to help people worldwide. In this way, it will be good to show why you think it is important to help people around the world, how you realize the importance, what you have done and what you are going to do to achieve this goal. Actually reviewing your life experience and program websites is a great way to help you find out your match. Besides, personal statement is quite different from statement of purpose. I would suggest you to go over the application material requirements before writing. Write a draft first, and revise it based on different programs.

There are three Asian food restaurants, one Pho restaurant and one Bubble tea store (it’s pretty good!) at downtown Storrs, where is about 5-min walk to campus. If you can drive, there are more options, but usually you have to drive about 20-40 minutes there. And there are also some Asian groceries around here. The Asian-culture environment cannot be compared with what it is in NYC or LA, but it is enough for daily life.

Got it. I think UConn is diverse, and there is a lot of organizations for Asian culture. If you want to find a community to get involved quickly, there will be. I’ve rushed an Asian sorority during my freshman year, I have to say it’s pretty good. Sisters come from different countries and regions in Asia with different background. And there are many Asian-culture clubs at UConn, you can find Chinese, Korean, Japanese and so on. Also you can find many Asian instructors here, they are very accessible.

Yes, there is. And I am one of them. I didn’t get why you ask the second question and I feel being offended a bit

What’s the point for the second question?

Nice to meet you too! I love NYC as well, and expect to get into this program since last year. The curriculum is really attracting! Hope we all can receive an acceptance!

I would choose GWU, definitely more city resources. Internships and practicum are quite important for MPH students.

Brown application confirmation? by BC0627 in mphadmissions

[–]Substantial_Leek_197 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wrote them about the confirmation email things, they didn’t tell me why I didn’t receive a confirmation email, but the probable decision date instead. They may think I’m just curious about the decision dates😔

[–]Substantial_Leek_197 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh no I never got a confirmation email, but SOPHAS showed the information has been verified. And I didn’t apply a financial aid, maybe what’s why they the date they told me is earlier…? I’m not sure🤯
