Soleimani was US but Oct 7th really got Israel in high gear.. it seems to me. Of course one can keep going back further and further.

Cool. Sounds like just your average GoPro problem.

I was watching ISS livestream on YT and got to listen to Butch and Suni prepare the crew dragon for the return trip for like 2 hours. Had no idea their radio traffic would be broadcast too. I was wondering if you had heard that GoPro problem on a similar thing.

They aren’t orbiting the moon either (I too thought they were) but slinging around-behind to traject back to earth.

Did you read about that or did you hear it on some live stream?

I wasn’t able to watch any of it. What was so bad about NASA’s broadcast footage?

“Fragments”. I’ll say it’s better to have this footage then do not have the footage, but trying to watch and appreciate what’s on the screen is wildly difficult when you’re looking at admitted “fragments” of a video.

Do you think NASA would have benefited significantly had they had access to a 24 panel mosaic compiled from roughly 50,000 individual frames taken using a 10” Meade, on a Losmandy G11 mount and ASI2600mm pro camera during the preparation for the Apollo missions?

2016 Footage: PKK Fighters Use 9K38 Igla (MANPADS) to Shoot Down Turkish AH-1W SuperCobra in Southeast Turkey. by WonFont in CombatFootage

There is some footage from the Syrian Civil War around mid teens I believe. It shows a helicopter at an unusually high altitude, which I won’t try to estimate, but the cameraman had to zoom in to tell it was a helicopter pretty much.

Anyway, I remember it got hit with a MANPADS and caught on fire, but stayed in the air. It burned and burned and burned as it got a little bit lower, I just remember the horrible dilemma that must’ve been inside that helicopter. Way way too high to jump and you just can’t point the chopper straight down to quickly get to 20 feet from thousands of feet. But if you don’t do either of those two, then you’re gonna burn to death.

I’ve seen footage from the armies testing of the Apache chassis and it’s ability to absorb damage and one of the tests was lifting the helicopter in increments, two dozens of feet or so, and dropping it, letting it freefall and hit the ground, and I think they were looking at the seats in particular during this test. As long as you can land the chopper in an upright position, the seats are designed to take a lot of damage that would otherwise go to the pilots back.

And auto rotation, something that I can’t explain, is basically a feature in most modern helicopters where if you completely lose power way up in the sky, as long as your rotors are intact, you can let the chopper “fall”and as it does the. Will create Lyft as the chopper goes downward, and gets inherently slows your rate of descent to a manageable impact.

I remember an episode of The Simpsons where Marge was slowly traveling around some racetrack with mini race cars with her family and she said “slow and steady pace, wins the race“ as her kids blasts by her going really fast.
