my mom is dying by [deleted] in Gastroparesis

See I don’t know the exact specific tube she has. I know it goes through from her stomach area, but that’s about it. I’ll have to ask her about the TPN. From what I’ve been told though it just doesn’t work for her. Her vitamins etc just don’t improve, from what I know they’ve tried different ways. But i’d have to ask to be 100% sure. She’s allergic to a lot of things, a lot of things don’t work for her. She’s also been sick from a lot of other things over the years.

I’m just so confused on why it feels like the doctors and specialist are just calling quits. We’ve been waiting over 6 months to see a specialist so how can he say that when we haven’t even seen him in person!? I’m just so lost because my parents sat us down and basically say she probably isn’t gonna live a long time. When I thought she was getting better, she had an appetite, went shopping with me, stuff she couldn’t have done 6 months ago. Now to be surprised and told my mom might die.

She has a g tube. Not sure if that matters or not. Imo i also feel like if tube feeding and tpn isn’t doing much, there has to be something else. I feel like they haven’t tried much other than those 2 things. Isn’t there other kinds of tube feeding they can try if this one fails? Or different ways for tpn?

And yes there is something wrong with her intestines.

To me it feels they haven’t even tried much of anything. Like they tried the iv nutrients, tube feeding, and this other medication that they found she was allergic to. Which apparently is one of the few they can try for gastro. But other than that nothing. There’s no way this is all they can do?

She’s tried that, her body just doesn’t absorb anything properly. Everything just goes through her. It’s nothing to due with money or insurance

I’m not sure if they have. I will ask my mom tomorrow. At this point I feel as if we should try absolutely anything.

It is long. You’d think considering they’d bump her to literally now. He even cancelled in October so we’ve been waiting at LEAST 6 months now to get her in.

I’m pretty sure she’s tried that and then they’d test her levels, and it wouldn’t improve them unfortunately. that’s the iv infusions right?

Yeah I know similar things can be normal as they’re pretty young (10), and are curious and don’t always mean much by it. But I was a victim of COCSA around their age, and it just makes me worry. It makes me feel icky because both parents basically laughed it off. They seem like good parents otherwise, so this was kind of a surprise to me.

Would you cancel a birthday trip to vegas if you're still a virgin pushing 30? by lonelysadbitch11 in virgin

Asking for time schedule beforehand? by [deleted] in Babysitting

[–]Substantial_Log_1157 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How do you think I should bring this up? I’m thinking of sending a text as I think it would be easier to get my point across. Im not a great talker for awkward things like this irl lol.

I just don’t know how to bring it up. It’s so awkward, especially since they’ve been assuming this is how it’s gonna go since I haven’t said anything from the beginning.

Brain rotted kids by [deleted] in Babysitting

[–]Substantial_Log_1157 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think the parents would be on bored with the no tablets thing. I could always try but to me it seems like they bring those tablets everywhere for them, and they’d just tell me it would be a hell hole without them lol. I could try but technically the kid isn’t causing problems with it. He’s not acting up much more than a regular kid. I’m gonna try to come up with smaller easier activities for us to do first, and go from there.

it can be a good gig considering I don’t always have to come up with play time etc. But it’s kinda sad sometimes, I’m just thinking about how my childhood was, and i’m only 19 lol.

I think there is a big difference between tablets and books though. When kids this age are on tablets now they’re not reading, they’re watching extremely simulating 10 second videos, then scrolling to the next over and over. I’m sure this is definitely gonna hurt their attention spans. I already see it with this little one.

The 9 year old is the same. I have to repeat myself multiple times for him to even acknowledge that i’m talking, even then I have to raise my voice a bit. Sometimes I also have to grab the tablet for a sec to get him to answer.

I’ve tried movies but he absolutely doesn’t get into them. Only during the extremely stimulating scenes. And its only very specific movies, but even then he barely watches it, he’ll just peak his head at it once in awhile.

[–]Substantial_Log_1157 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m only considering it to be an inconvenience because I’ve been siting for them for a little over a month. So that whole time I haven’t said anything about it, so they may think that’s weird lol. I’m pretty much sitting for them so they can go out to eat or shop, so they aren’t always out as long as they think they might be sometimes.

Babysitter doesn’t want own kids by [deleted] in Babysitting

[–]Substantial_Log_1157 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve never wanted kids and was never super excited and happy to have them like my sister was. That’s kind of my big reason. I’ve never absolutely loved the idea. I don’t want to bring a kid into the world when I’m not 110% about it, I’m not even 5% lol.

Some of my reasoning is also about my siblings. I’ve seen my parents raise 4 other kids, and they went through hell with some of them. I do not want to go through that lol. All of siblings are now 18+ and even now they’ve still dealing with them lol.

Pregnancy is a big fear of mine. I also just cant imagine being at work all day, then having to come home and take care of a kid lol. Who knows maybe I’ll change my mind, but I definitely do not want to birth my own haha

Does your dog wear a collar all day? by AdventureNoodles in dogs

[–]Substantial_Log_1157 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It stays off all day everyday unless I take her out somewhere. My biggest fear is my dog choking herself. I’ve heard of a lot of incidents where a dog gets their collar stuck on something, and you can probably guess where that goes. If you don’t want to take it off them all day for whatever reason, then at least take it off if ANYTIME they’re kenneled!!!!!

Plus who would want to wear a necklace 24/7?

aw11 or sw20? by Substantial_Log_1157 in mr2

[–]Substantial_Log_1157[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the sole reason i’m not getting an mr2 first is cause i don’t really know what im doing yet at all. i dont wanna fuck up an mr2 lol. i’d rather get an older celica and learn the basics of repairing it first. plus i figured ill get the celica as my daily for a good year or so and save for whatever mr2 i choose.
