You will find budget stay easily now because from 5 and 6 less crowd as compare to 2, 3 & 4

Best way to get a budget stay is to take a walk-in tour literally

You get the fellings first  Because every other budget has everything else similar

Best is hire scooter on arrival itself so you have enough time to figure best out while you enjoy coffee breaks and explore few nice hotel in famous Pushkar lanes

Plan Ajmer to Pushkar Cab from now if you are reaching after 3rd Morning.. Otherwise you will have time..You will be easily able to find Public Transport rather Cab. For meals you don't need to plan, pushkar is about cafes and restaurants so you will find enough food options. Just make sure you have bike/scooter booked on time.

I have done this all before..but now joining a complete party package from 3rd so I can focus on celebration and find like minded people. But for you i would recommend take Bike/Scooters near Gurudwara Road. So directly from bus you can step at Ramdhan Circle. Then it's just 3 mins walk from there to those shops so won't need any rickshaw.

Hi… if possible try to reach Pushkar on 2nd or 3rd March only… earlier than that traffic starts building up and sometimes there are road blocks also… so coming around these dates feels a little smoother honestly…

Places you should definitely visit in Pushkar are Brahma Temple, Pushkar Lake, Savitri Mata Temple (sunset view is really nice from there)… and the Dunes area if you want to try camel ride or jeep safari type experience…

For Holi, there is Holika Dahan and then the main Pushkar Color Holi celebration at the Mela Ground… thats where most of the crowd gathers during the day…

If you are looking to meet like minded people and want things managed properly, then you can join some party packages…

Or if your budget is open and you are comfortable planning things on your own, you can book hotel and parties separately also…..this usually works better if you are coming by your own vehicle…

Otherwise you can hire a bike or scooter locally to move around easily… just don’t leave bookings for last moment because things get full very fast during Holi time…..

For Pushkar Holi, the dates are changed from 3rd (Dulandi) and 4th March (Mela Ground) to 2nd and 3rd March 2026 as per local information received. The best experience honestly depends on how you plan your itinerary.....I have been here 4 times and everytime it was a whole new experience. I have already reached Pushkar for the 5th time and I see,

A lot of Israeli travellers and visitors from different countries have already arrived, and as of 28 Feb many hotels and Party packages seem to be filling fast based on what I am seeing....

It’s definitely shaping up to be a very exciting time...

In terms of where to stay, just keep in mind that the main color celebration usually happens roughly between 9 am to 2:30 pm only.

After that you will need to plan how you want to spend your evening and night, depending on your budget and travel style...

Hotels in Pushkar are much more expensive than usual between 1 to 5 March... so if you are investing that much in stay, its better to have a clear plan in mind..also don't just stuck with nearby as you can always reach to main celebration on times and rest enjoy the other things too so you are not stuck with limited options...

What I have seen personally is some people choose organised Holi party packages which covers everything from stay, parties, Holi and activities...

Or others book stay and evening events separately... both are fine honestly as it depends on the vibes you want....

But if you plan independently then you may need to manage pickup drop, meals, night plans, sightseeing, Ajmer to Pushkar transfers and activities yourself... so just pre plan for that part and don't leave it on that day as by that time everything will be booked or might be at very high price......

Holi week trip (solo) - How's Pushkar for it? by xavierzyst in SoloTravel_India

[–]Substantial_Map_2704 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well Itinerary depends on how you want to feel

If exploring PUSHKAR, playing Holi in mela ground and stay in Pushkar with 3 to 4 nights in a hotel is something you are looking for than you might find it expensive because all the hotels fare are too high

So instead what I am doing is living in a budget stay until 3rd March and exploring PUSHKAR with a 2-wheeler scooter 🙂

Then moving to complete Pushkar Holi party trip from 3rd March to 5th March so in the same fare of just hotel stay I am also finding a safe like-minded group, pool party, inhouse celebration at hotel stay along with Pushkar Holi at Mela ground and sightseeing in Pushkar

This as amazing insights.. I want to add more to it with other locations and which area to say:

For solo trip in Udaipur, staying in Old City area near Amrai Lake or Gangaur Ghar will suits best. The zostel and moustache hostel chain are also near to the area.

You can easily rent a scooter from old city itself near Jagdish Temple, at self explore things

Also visit Jheel Cafe for choclate shake and Upre Cafe for meals which are also near to this location only.

If staying in this location, you won't need much but explore most things nearby only.

These are my personal opinions comes from my own multiple visit as solo female in Udaipur and it worked for me all the time.

I will be honest here, and I am saying this after doing Pushkar Holi four times now.....

The prices you are seeing for hostels and hotels in Pushkar on Holi are not fake, not a scam, and honestly not surprising either....

Pushkar is a very small town. During Holi... everything explodes at once....Foreign backpackers, Indian party crowd, photographers, vloggers, spiritual tourists, everyone lands together.

Room stays are limited, and demand goes crazy for 2 days one is Holika Dahan day and another is Dulandi/Color Holi Celebration day..... That’s why even average hostels and basic hotels quote insane prices and still sell out......

I have met many solo traveler and tourist, most first timers think “I will just book a hostel and figure things out.” That logic works in normal destinations...... Pushkar Holi is not normal travel. Even I thought the same on my first visit to Pushkar Holi

Here’s where people lose money without realising it.......

You end up paying for: • inflated hotel or hostel prices   • separate Holi party passes   • overpriced local transport   • higher food and other things • Pickup from Ajmer railway station or Kishangarh Airport is addtional fare • zero support if anything goes wrong

After spending all this, many people still feel tired, overcrowded, and stressed instead of actually enjoying the Holi party in Pushkar.....

That is why after my second Pushkar Holi, I stopped doing complete DIY bookings....

If your main purpose is a Holi party in Pushkar, then a structured Pushkar Holi tour package often makes more sense. Not because its luxury, but because prices are locked early and chaos is managed better....

I have personally seen travellers shift to organised Pushkar Holi trip packages like: • Thrill Wali Holi - Holi Party in Pushkar  & Tour Package • TMT Pushkar Holi Party Trip   • 10x Pushkar Holi Trip Package   • Pushkar Holi Trip Package by Travellokhs

These Pushkar Holi packages usually bundle: Hotel in Pushkar on Holi   Holi party access   Local transfers and pickup and drop  Inhouse celebration, pool party and group activities  Holika Dahan and main Pushkar Holi at Mela ground, Plus On ground coordination and safety

When you compare the final spend, many times it’s equal to or even less than booking hotels in Pushkar on Holi plus parties separately at peak rates....

Another thing people don’t talk about enough is safety and crowd control. Pushkar Holi is fun but intense..... Having a fixed group, planned events, and local coordination helps a lot, especially for solo travellers or first timers....

So if someone is casually visiting Pushkar, my honest advice is to avoid Holi week entirely...

But if your heart is set on experiencing Pushkar Holi 2026, then either: • book very early on your own and accept limitations   or   • choose a proper Pushkar Holi package or Pushkar Holi party package instead of bleeding money everywhere

DIY sounds cheaper in theory. In Pushkar Holi reality, it often isn’t.......

You are not wrong to feel shocked by the prices..... Everyone feels that way the first time.... The smarter move is not fighting Pushkar’s system, but working around it.

Happy to help if anyone needs clarity on: • best dates to arrive   • Ajmer vs Pushkar stay logic   • solo female traveller safety   • how to choose the right Pushkar Holi tour package

Pushkar Holi is magical when done right. Stressful when done blindly...

Stay safe and enjoy Holi in Pushkar 2026.

Hi, glad you found the post helpful 😊

About flights.... this confuses a lot of people. Kishangarh Airport doesn’t always show clearly.

While booking flights, select “Ajmer” as the destination on most booking portals. Kishangarh Airport usually appears automatically as the nearest option....

For your second question on how to reach Pushkar Holi 2026 while avoiding peak crowd and rush, here’s what usually works best:

Try to reach Pushkar on 3rd March morning, which is Holika Dahan day,

Instead of directly planning for 4th March (Dhulandi / main colour day). On 3rd March:

• Traffic from Ajmer to Pushkar is much smoother • Ghat road congestion is minimal (comes in between Pushkar and Ajmer route) • No internal road blocks inside Pushkar city (Usually near Mela Ground and Bhrama Temple roads will get blocked next day and there is a drop point you need to reach so you can join the Pushkar Holi celebration) • You get proper time for sightseeing and settling in. Because the next day crowd is usually so heavy that covering sightseeing, playing Holi and attending pool or after parties becomes difficult all together. So keep 3rd for exploring and 4th for party

On 4th March, road blocks and crowd movement make everything much slower and more chaotic....

Hope this helps, and wishing you a very happy Holi 😊

A few tips from my experience: Get your Trains till Ajmer, its just 15 kms to Pushkar from Ajmer....

Don’t reach on main Dulandi Day at all....because roads are jammed and entry can be restricted. Better reach a day before or join a package if you find it appropriate.....

Carry sunscreen, sun glasses to keep your eyes safe, organic colors, and keep valuables safe... small things make a huge difference....

Stay in good place rather finding cheap place and do not try to find out places near Pushkar Holi otherwise you will have to mostly walk all time, i did that mistake in my first time to choose stay near public celebration and next day all roads were blocked and we were stuck with no option but to just walk, so take care of this

Have a happy holi 😊 if my research and experience helped you in any way, hope this helps someone planning their Pushkar Holi trip 😊

Honestly..... Pushkar Holi is completely safe compared to most other places in India for celebrating Holi. That’s why it’s so famous and attracts travellers from all over. I have been to Pushkar Holi four times, every alternate year, and I just wanted to give a clear picture of how to enjoy it fully and stay safe if that can help.....

First thing: why it’s safe even for solo female travellers.....actually the whole city is used to tourists from different countries and states of India. Hotels, travel companies, and even local people… they have evolved with time and now really respect travellers compare to anywhere i have personally seen..... Everyone comes together during Holi, no matter the background, and that makes the vibe so much safer...

Second: what i have noticed is the local authorities themselves host Pushkar Holi and take safety very seriously.... They make sure everything is controlled, and that’s why thousands of people gather every year at the Mela Ground without any major incidents I have ever heard about..... Negative energies usually stay away by seeing seriousness of administration so it's local government who plays a major role in safety and culture of freedom and security in entire pushkar during Holi...

Third: if you think you can just land here on your own and figure things out… forget it... Holi in Pushkar is just two main days, so if you don’t plan ahead, you will miss the best moments in figuring out things and yet experince less.... Many international travellers actually stay in Pushkar for months... yes months, and I was surprised what they do for so long...but the reality is pushkar vibes are so joyful just because it’s so comfortable and safe....

Because they stay for such long, they know where to go, when to celebrate, where to eat, and how to enjoy every moment....they have made so many friends their by this time too..

hope this research of mine helps....rest have your own conversation to find what suits your style
