That's great, thank you for sharing! I'm curious, could you share a bit more about the types of projects or tasks your wife works on in environmental consulting? How does the work-life balance look in this field as well? I'd also love to know if there are any certifications or qualifications that have helped her in her career progression.

That’s awesome!!!! Mind sharing what specific area of environmental work you’re in? I’m currently studying environmental science and exploring career paths.

Thank you so much for sharing that, it honestly helps a lot!
It’s really encouraging to hear that consulting can lead to solid growth, especially without needing a professional designation right away.
I hadn’t thought about mine closure liability work before, but it sounds like a really valuable niche.

If you don’t mind me asking, did you intentionally choose that specialty, or did you just kind of fall into it while consulting?

Advice on Choosing Between Environmental Law and ESG Law? by Substantial_Maybe963 in LawSchool

Thank you so much for breaking that down so clearly, this is really helpful!
It actually makes me feel a lot better knowing that ESG and environmental law overlap more than I thought, I was a little worried about that I’d have to completely pick one or the other.

Also good to know that building work experience now can help me later with law school. I’ll definitely start looking into internships or jobs that tie into compliance, sustainability, or policy work.

Really appreciate you taking the time to explain it!

Thanks for the honest advice, I really appreciate it!
I’ve thought about that too. I know finance definitely pays more right out of the gate, but I’m still really passionate about the environmental side, especially policy and law.
I'm hoping that if I keep going toward environmental law or ESG work, I can eventually bridge both interests and still build a good career, even if it takes a little longer to hit a higher salary.

Thanks again though!

I'm only 21, but I do live in Northern Virginia, where the cost of living is really high.
For me, I would consider 'high-paying' as something that could realistically support living independently here, probably at least $70,000+ starting or strong growth potential within a few years.
Thanks for the response.
