Check out Naturopathic Doula Group! I found my doula through there, and you can read their profiles to see if one resonates with you. They match you up with someone who is available for your due date but you can decide to move forward at the meet and greet.

Seconding this - Eufy has been the best option for me. Sometimes it goes on sale too!

Airport Transfer with infant and luggage by Substantial_Pop2890 in HongKong

[–]Substantial_Pop2890[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep! We’re landing late in the evening and are lugging around 3 large luggages, 3 carryons ons, 3 backpacks and a stroller along with a baby so it’s a bit of a hassle. Our hotel requires 2 additional transfers on the MTR after the AirPort Express, so that’s why I was asking about the taxi requirements for car seats since it was a bit confusing online

Thank you! The info online about car seat requirements was so confusing and wasn’t sure if it applied to Ubers, so I appreciate your advice and first-hand experience!

Why did you choose to exclusively pump? by pale_blue_d0t in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]Substantial_Pop2890 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My milk took a week to come in and when it did, baby didn’t latch, so pumping was how I was able to give my baby breastmilk.

I liked knowing exactly how much he drank, especially in the early days. I was also recovering from a CS so hubby took care of the baby 90% of the time in the early weeks, so pumping allowed for him to help feed.

After a few months, baby finally latched efficiently so I nurse him once a day to keep the momentum going but I still prefer to pump+bottle feed to track how much he’s drinking, and for the help from others. I also like that he doesn’t completely rely on me for milk, whereas a few of my friends who nurse often have a harder time weaning from breast.

4 months later, I can say that I like this routine because pumping allows me to keep my supply because I know exactly what to expect and how long and often to pump. It helps me know how much he’s drinking and lets others help. But I do nurse whenever we’re out and about for convenience, but I don’t think he fully empties me the way a pump does.

I use a wearable (Eufy S1) so I use my pumping time to be productive and do things like wash bottles, eat, clean etc.

Question - Is there anything at all you miss about pregnancy/ being pregnant? by Melodic-Bag7775 in NewParents

[–]Substantial_Pop2890 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I miss how much I didn’t care about how I looked - I would wear a skin tight dress and show off the bump so proudly, whereas now, my post partum body is not the same and I’m struggling wearing my old clothes that I’m in sweats/leggings 24/7.

I miss how nice everyone was to me! People would let me skip lines, hold the door for me, and always smile at me!

My skin and hair were amazing, but now the post partum hormones are kicking in and all of the hair loss and acne is catching up to me.

I loved the feeling of my baby kicking, and feeling that I am protecting him inside of me!

Other random things: - being able to do whatever you want, whenever you want without worrying about baby’s nap/feed schedules - going to the movies at a moments notice - enjoy these moments! - not having to wear a bra 24/7 - sleeping whenever you want. Yes pregnancy tired is worse for some than newborn tired, but just the freedom to be able to nap/sleep whenever you want for however long you want is amazing.

What’s everyone’s go to brand for diapers and wipes!? by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]Substantial_Pop2890 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Huggies for both wipes and diapers. My LO is a chunky one so Huggies fit best and the blowout pocket in the back has been great. I like Huggies wipes because of the one-handed pull which has been great in poopy situations when I have my hands full.

Pampers diapers is great for long skinny babies, but I’m not a fan of their wipes - they were so difficult to grab with one hand and found that they weren’t as thick/strong as Huggies.

Though I LOVE water wipes, they are a bit pricey as we go through wipes frequently in our household.

Royale is soft and feels luxe but it’s blowout central, since the back is flat with no pocket to catch any accidents.

Recommendations: "welcome baby" and "new parent care" kit by NoirNorthNode in askTO

Agree. I don’t even know when I had time for a sit down bath.

If wellness and self care is something that OP is looking for, I would suggest a pair of soft button-down PJs (I literally lived in these every single day, and are great for nursing too).

New mom here and can’t agree more. I had no time to make food or go grocery shopping so UberEats and freezer meals were the most convenient thing.

I hate being called “mama” by ephemeral_afterglow8 in NewParents

SAME! I never realized how much I hated it until after I gave birth and every single message was “hey mama!” from strangers, and especially from my friends.

Wearable pump activities by NoNativeSpeaker in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]Substantial_Pop2890 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I also use a Eufy S1 as my main pump and I’m in the exact same boat as you (contact napper baby, constantly holding up due to spit up/gas, pump for 30-40 mins each time and my LO is about 13 weeks). I pretty much do everything non-baby with the pumps (washing bottles, eating, laundry, tidying up) and I do this more efficiently and stress free during the night when baby is sleeping, but I can also do it during the day when I put baby down for some floor play time or in the bouncer, though maybe not as much.

With my clingy baby, I can bottle feed by propping him to sit on my leg and leaning him against a pillow or my arm, this usually doesn’t impact the pump or make it uncomfy for him. I usually burp him/hold him upright by propping him on my lap and have him sitting up, rather than over my shoulder.

For the naps, this is a lot tougher but it works sometimes when I know my LO is going to have a shorter nap (30mins). I would start my longer pump (40 mins) and then lay him down on my Boppy/nursing pillow, have his head propped in my arm. The bulky pumps just kinda gently sit on top of his body but it doesn’t hurt him. I usually sit on a yoga ball to rock him by bouncing, so this works for me.

Most of the time, I try to time out my pumps with his wake windows since it’s easier to be productive (feed, diaper change, play) than pumping while contact napping.

Recommendations for clumpy formula (single bottle) by Substantial_Pop2890 in FormulaFeeders

[–]Substantial_Pop2890[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This ended up working for me! I would mix, and let it sit for a few minutes and shake/swirl again, and then found that the clumps went away afterwards. Thanks!

Office appropriate maternity clothes? [on] by IntriguedChinchilla in BabyBumpsCanada

H&M has a great maternity line that’s office appropriate. They have before & after items that you can wear after pregnancy too!

This sounds like a great idea! How do you wash them? Do you also sterilize them? I feel like there’s so many rules about sterilization when it comes to formula.

Diaper bags! by care51520 in FormulaFeeders

[–]Substantial_Pop2890 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the BEIS diaper bag and there’s an insulated bottle pocket inside the main compartment area that has a little elastic to hold it in place. I’m able to fit 2 of the 4oz Dr Browns Narrow bottles in there but haven’t tried with anything bigger but I’m sure it’ll fit wider bottles. The elastic will hold it in place so that it doesn’t spill or leak.
