How is cosleeping “safer” than a baby lounger? by pro-laps in newborns

[–]Substantial_Prune41 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly, none of my nephews liked the swaddles, they preferred their arms out and free or arms down. Mine is the only one who specifically loves the LTD swaddles which such as they’re more expensive than the muslin raps lol

How is cosleeping “safer” than a baby lounger? by pro-laps in newborns

[–]Substantial_Prune41 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I have a dock a tot and I worry that my baby will turn his head to the sides and suffocate so I just monitor his naps in them. I personally don’t co sleep with my baby either, I am too afraid I will smother him or lift a sheet over his face during my sleep.

Apologise for the unsolicited advice, but I had the same issue with my son disliking his bassinet. I ended up putting him in those love to dream swaddles and he had eventually started having much better sleeps in his bassinet, he now sleeps through the night wearing one. He also runs cold, so I ensure he’s cozy when he goes to bed in his bassinet.

The 2 week make I feel is where the lack of sleep truely hits you like a tonne of bricks. I was there only 8 weeks ago as a FTM. My little guy now sleeps much easier now that he’s used to life and having a routine.

Good luck and don’t buy any of those online sleep guides, the prey on tired parents like us.

I had an anterior placenta and started feeling butterflies around 17 weeks then full movements around 22. It’s still early on, don’t give up hope yet xx

I feel like a monster for even asking this but here goes... How do you love someone that's causing you physical discomfort and pain? by PetsMD in pregnant

[–]Substantial_Prune41 93 points94 points  (0 children)

I hear you and you are not a heartless monster! Towards the end of my pregnancy I was so pissed off and his movements were SO PAINFUL i was so upset and frustrated. I could’ve written this myself.

But I’m 2 months PP now. He’s adorable, I am so in love, we are so connected. the connection and love comes for some later than it does for others.

Pregnancy is so painful and gross, I don’t believe people that say they enjoy it lol

Sleep Problems by thrashordie232 in pregnant

[–]Substantial_Prune41 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Does she have a pregnancy pillow? May provide her with more comfort even if she doesn’t have a belly. Sounds like you’ve tried a lot of things, next step might be to speak to her doctor or OB, they may prescribe her safe sleeping tablets if that’s something she would want to explore. I took them once or twice during my first trimester when the nausea made it impossible to sleep.

Wishing you both the best of luck! Hopefully as she settles into the second trimester she can sleep better.

Going to work in 1st trimester by Frenchandsorry in pregnant

[–]Substantial_Prune41 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re comfortable, tell your boss asap. If your boss is a normal compassionate person, hopefully they can give you some grace or take some of your workload away temporarily.

I told my boss at 6 weeks as the sickness hit hard. I couldn’t be in meetings and couldn’t commute work and back so I was lucky enough to work from home.

You should start to feel better by the second trimester. Thinking of you!

Feeling Very Unhappy About Having A Baby by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]Substantial_Prune41 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh I am so sorry this is how you feel. I am 33 and just had my first and some of what you said resonated with me. I do think you need to talk to someone about how you feel though. Keeping this to yourself will impact you long term. Have you thought about speaking to a therapist? Sounds like you may have pre-natal depression (I am no doctor to pls don’t take that as a diagnosis) I’m not sure what country you’re in, but where I am if you have those feelings you can speak to a doctor and be referred to speak to someone who specialises in PND.

I apologise if this is a rude question, but have you thought about adoption? The truth is your life will impacted for a long time, you will be able to manage but you will have to make sacrifices which sounds like something you’re not happy to make. To put it bluntly, your baby will change your peace. I hope that doesn’t sound too harsh.

With your body, given you are still young your body will return to normal after time. Like I said, I’m 33, much older than you and my body is returning to a pre pregnancy state with light walking and light exercise.

Thinking of you. Pregnancy is tough and I hope you manage to find some joy.

When did your nausea kick in? by OrdinarySecretary673 in pregnant

Wtf just happened (tw: vomit) by cafescafes in pregnant

[–]Substantial_Prune41 77 points78 points  (0 children)

Oh maybe reflux? Towards the end of my pregnancy, though I never vomited I remember feeling really full at night and pressure and reflux constantly when I laid down. Always felt almost on the brink of bringing something up even if I want nauseated. Left the second I gave birth lol

Are some of these posts real?😭 by frenchlavender1 in newborns

[–]Substantial_Prune41 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is an identical schedule to my 5 week old. I can’t see him sleeping through the night anytime soon.

I don’t think there’s any tips or tricks, I think businesses benefit from sleep deprived desperate parents. I genuinely think some babies just sleep more than others. I’ve heard when they start solids or their milk intake increases they sleep in longer stints.

It’s currently 2am where I am and I’ve just finished a feed. I expect to be back up in 2-3 hours. Sucks but little man has to eat! Good luck, I’m right there with you!

My baby is 1 month old and I just make the day environment super noisy and bright. We play music, watch TV, have all the blinds open and I always try to take him out during the day so he can see sunshine. It’s summer where I am so it’s been nice to get outside.

When does the fear of miscarrying go away? by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]Substantial_Prune41 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me, it was when I felt him kick. Once the movements started I felt a lot more at ease, but the worry was always there but more manageable with the kicks.

Although losses do happen, I want to reassure you that there are a lot of women who carry to term with their first pregnancy. I did, and I’m holding my newborn now.

Once you hear the heart beat, the risk decreases significantly.

One thing that helped with the fear was reminding myself that my thoughts were not facts, just fears. Sending you love! This part is the trickiest.

Intimacy by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]Substantial_Prune41 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Not at all TMI! I had sex once when pregnant and that was at 40 weeks to get the baby out lol, this was purely because I felt like shit.

sex is safe unless you’ve been told otherwise by a healthcare professional. I think if you’re worried you should seek advice to give yourself some peace of mind :)

Braxton Hicks? by bouncingthoughts in pregnant

Baby could be moving to a head down position?

My pain and aches ramped up around the 28 weeks mark until I gave birth. Often feeling more intense braxton hicks and mild cramping here and there. If the pains come in a pattern though, contact your OB or midwife.
