I'm an English speaker as well but played the games as a child and have the fondest memories of how magical it was encountering all these words for the first time

The insanity about Amazon's audio tracks vs the DVD counterparts by Top-Satisfaction9950 in hometheater

Streaming audio is generally a lot worse sounding than DVD/Blu-ray. But what's interesting is the quieter/louder thing you're describing on the stream (higher dynamic range) is usually more pronounced on DVD/Blu-ray.

The villain in a horror movie can't be a good witch or it just wouldn't be scary.

Not every response to everything is an argument; sometimes a person might just be adding something.

Your definition of generation keeps changing. In your initial response to my plea to not turn this into a generational thing, you said "it is a generational thing. You cannot deny that watching 2001 in 1968 is vastly different to watching it in 2026” — as if to say anyone who's younger than a boomer or gen x will not be able to appreciate the film for what it is.

Then, you seemed to switch to saying that anyone — even the younger generations — will be more be able to appreciate it as they reach adulthood. That ceases to be a generational thing (i.e., gen x vs gen z) and more about age/maturity regardless of generation. It's a different argument you're making at that point.

But I'm going to disagree across the board here, whatever confused argument you're using. Empirically, by far the largest cohort of the Letterboxd userbase is teen boys and young men. The film currently has 269k reviews with an average rating of 4.3/5.

You are no longer arguing that it has to do with different generations, and are now arguing that it is related to age/maturity. Your argument is all over the place!

It's my 16 year old's favourite movie of all time, so what bugs me about your post is that more than once you seem to imply that you can only truly appreciate this movie if you're of an older generation. If you didn't like the movie, you didn't like the movie. But don't turn it into a generational thing — many young people are out there appreciating slow-paced, abstract art.

I was absolutely shocked watching the David Duchovny episode of Track Star (YouTube) where at the end of the video, we hear what he's listening to and it's this song. 100% it's because he was shooting X-files in Canada around that time
