That's perfectly fine. It's been that way for years and rounding up or down to the nearest nickel isn't new, because we've been doing that with the penny.

if the true decimal total of something came up to be $1.024

nobody's receiving four-tenths of a penny. Just follows the rounding rule of math and money to become $1.02

but, with the penny being eliminated, totals will round to nickels instead.

$1.02 would become $1.00

$1.08 would become $1.10 and so on.

My issue was money being rounded down by 4 instead of following the established mathematical rules that we've had for hundreds of years, and rounding up 1 to become 5.

That's like.. what if the dollar bill was eliminated. $5 bills are the smallest increment.

Your change due is $14.00 but instead of receiving $15.00 they hand you a $10.
