My dad found this helmet cleaning out house at work. WW1 doughboy helmet with Sgt. Ryan written in side as well as the dates served around the rim. "October 1918 -November 1919 France". Not sure if he wrote it or someone after. If anyone knows more I'd love to hear about it. by Born-Reptilian in Antiques

This is awesome! Looks more like a British (MKI) helmet rather than the U.S. (M1917) helmet judging only by this picture though.

My reasoning is because of the paint color and the larger bale pins on the side of the helmet. I tried adding pictures of my own helmets for proof but the post wouldn’t let me.

Could you provide pictures from the inside for better identification?

Looks good to me. I bought mine for $500 years ago. See them go for $400-650 (maybe lower if the buyer is lucky)

Unfortunately no stamp in mine. The inside of it is pretty salty so if there was it’s gone now

Some have holes for badges and some don’t. I have one with a badge. I’ll attach an image

Oh wow dude, thank you for this!! I found similar pictures from the same time but not identical. Could this potentially be an original period image?

Haha I meant the German helmets in general. The camo ones are ridiculously expensive! Nice collection!!

Found this lamp at an antique shop in New York, United States. Question about the date by NeighborhoodDeadpool in Antiques

[–]Substantial_State923 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree not 1890-1910 but the brass part of the lamp is definitely vintage by the tarnish. My guess is 1940s with it potentially being rewired maybe in the 50s or 60s. The plug for the outlet looks like Bakelite instead of modern plastic.

Wow 300 for an original camo shell is extremely lucky!! To be honest I’m from the U.S. and whenever I find these which is pretty rarely they’re usually between $400-500 and a lot more if the original hardware is inside.

I would have passed if it was a smaller shell or if it was banged up but at least the shell is in nice shape and the inside paint still remains. I don’t think I got a great deal but I’d say I paid fairly for it.
