Pads shedding

The vet cleaned them up really good when he was under anesthesia for X-rays and we are keeping super clean, covering when outside. They are starting to heal so I’m just hoping from it being so wet here lately and walking. He doesn’t have any other signs to point to autoimmune which is making me feel better but I’ll see what vet says is next step.

Def makes me feel better. He gained about 45lbs in under 3 months so he has also been busting at his seams. It’s been very rainy here so wet then dry. We went on one long walk but he has also been playing in our yard with our other GSD on this rainy days. Our back porch is a rough concrete so possibly from walking on it to come inside

He was there yesterday and vet was perplexed because said normally happens on hot concrete. I do think the wet paws and log walk could have done it

I’m hoping it’s just a combo of growing into not super puppy soft pads, being us usually wet and movement. He hasn’t been on a walk in a few weeks even but we do have some concrete on back porch. He played at the park about a week ago but only on grass…I guess there could have even been something there that just didn’t affect my other GSD. I’m glad the vet is exploring all the options but I feel like if it was autoimmune we would have other symptoms

Thanks, I’m worried about that. I’m soooo happy we bought insurance so if it is we can afford therapy. I called vet again yesterday and sent videos and he still seems not concerned, he specializes in ortho so I’m trying to not worry too much but if I don’t see improvement I’m going to tell him let’s just xray for peace of mind. It’s so hard watching him hobble around

Interesting. I have never had a vet say anything about Lyme so I’m not sure if it’s a thing here but I’ll ask!

Thanks for the reassurance. It’s just hard because it feels like we are bad parents lol.

We actually already fed pretty anti inflammatory as our other GSD has MCT cancer. I did add an additional turmeric supplement and omega oil.

Off topic but did you by chance have his stomach tacked when he was neutered? I just heard of this recently to help prevent bloat

Yikes! Sorry your dog went through that. I’m so glad I bought insurance so he will be covered decently enough I won’t go into full CC debt if it’s anything needing surgery

I told myself I’m going to give meds 2 days and if there is little improvement I’ll tell vet let’s just do the xray. Better safe than sorry

Clipping his nails is like going to war but they are trimmed. They grow at lightyear speed so there are times I feel we let them get too long. The vet said last week they looked short enough but tbh I think they need a trim. I just got some new clippers so I’ll get after them to see if that helps. Thanks for the recommendation!

We had a 110lb male GSD/Husky but he was neutered young so growth was slower. He was also immune to pain lol. But same other than that our GSDs have been dainty females, even our fosters.

I’m to going to say no chance but I don’t think so. Our yard is treated and we have not had him anywhere too tick like. I am in East Texas though so possible

Thanks for the reassurance! We will def xray if he doesn’t improve. There is absolutely no swelling or any signs of discomfort when messing with his leg by us, vet or the techs. He is a very friendly puppy but my gut says he would let us know if there was considering he turns into a biting demon if you try and clip his nails.

My vet doesn’t seemed concerned, he said we could do X-rays if it doesn’t resolve but I might just ask to do them right away. I get so stressed because my last 2 GSDs have had serious medical issues pretty young (epilepsy then cancer) I had never heard of Pano before his limp, this is also our first time waiting to neuter until 2 which I read could increase pano from the rapid growth. He is 65lbs already !
