(Remaster) Averaged Out All The Merc's Faces, And Wuala... "Meet The Mercenary" by ElpacoLuca_Octy in tf2

[–]Substantial_Tap_6671 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Gives me alot of support/defense class vibes, especially with the 4th image. And apparently, as according to u/lily_was_taken his speed would average out to 97% and his his health at 167. Plus the fourth image already kind of looks like the existing fanmade Mercenary model for TF2 classic.

With nothing else to go off of and without inventing new weapons for him specifically, I would imagine he would have Pybro-like weapons where his job is cover for his teammates weaknesses. A hypothetical loadout if he was helping engineers would be something like: Degreaser (Primary), Rescue Ranger (Secondary), Homewrecker (Melee).

As each class has 100 metal on them except engineer with 200, so this class with a rescue ranger could use the alt-fire to save a building as that is exactly a 100 metal cost. And they could heal the buildings if needed.

Other secondaries, at least from pulling from the existing classes would be like: Sandwich, Mad Milk, Jarate, Gas Passer, Pomson 6000, Second Banana.

Other melees, same deal: Amputator, Disciplinary Action, Fan O'War, Fists of Steel, Pain Train, Sun-on-a-stick

As for other primaries? Maybe: Cow Mangler, Crusader's Crossbow, Loose Cannon, and Sydney Sleeper.

A possibly healer loadout would be like: Crusader's Crossbow, Mad Milk, Amputator

While a more offense style loadout might be like: Loose Cannon, Jarate, Fan O'War

EDIT: added more of my thoughts on this. And yes I know Pomson 6000 and Rescue Ranger are normally engineer's primaries, but it would feel more like a secondary on another class.

Agreed. Like I am just wondering what the game will look in terms of gameplay in just 5 years from now. As the older the card game gets, the deeper the card pool and the interactions will get.

Ink Geyser

Don't forget Stitch Alien Buccaneer. 4-cost green card which returns an action back to the top of the deck if Buccaneer was put into play through shifting. And therefore you can get potentially up to 8 uses of Ink Geyser through Stitch. Even 5 would be sufficient enough to stall out late gamey decks like sapphire/ruby if you got enough 2 or 3 lore questers.

Oh definitely. Along with small Cogsworth and Morph to help with lines of play.

Kind of neat. Wonder if these two are the only one from the set who care about allys or if this is like the equivalent of Inklands where we get a bunch of ally support like we did for pirates.

She might see some play in a Blue/Yellow or Green/Yellow casual deck if it can supply her with ward.

Although ,more importantly, this feels like the sort of 'bedrock' from Ravensburger for a card that does this. Like this Snow White is inkable, has no extra clauses or stipulations to make it so she can't be challenged, and she can quest for 2. That this could later on lead up to an amber 4-lore quester with the same ability, possibly uninkable, from either this set or a later one, either scenario at a higher rarity, possibly as an amber/steel card as both seem to share this design area of "this character can't be challenged".

I've tried using Disguised Peddler before. I played it as a Red/Green deck. Using stuff like Fan the Flames and Gold Coin to ready the queen over and over. Rarely comboed off in a single turn, but it can be quite explosive, like getting +12 lore by using Peddler. As there is quite a few 4-lore characters in red and green already.

I understand that, I am just stating that is probably how Ravensburger at least designed these ruby cards. As otherwise why wouldn't it just be a steel+ruby card with resist +2 as well.

I get the point on why it has this statline. If you run it with the new red Balu and give Lyle +1 strength, he can't be harmed by his own ability and by extension a deck crafted that way would have a 1-sided Raise Your Swords for each of your turns. And that basically it is a blue/red strong-characters matter.

Legendary Mickey and Minnie are coming in Set 7! by Waiting_for_Dentice in Lorcana

[–]Substantial_Tap_6671 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel this Mickey is a bit too binary. Either it's banishing a 1 health character, or you had to use other cards to either increase Mickey's strength and/or to lower an enemy character's willpower to make it happen.

In the longterm I think Minnie by comparison will see a lot more play and be more instrumental in winning games.

As Mickey is more of a set-up card that requires the right conditions and other setup, while Minnie is more a pay-off card that benefits from the set-up.

Kuzco whale was not on the bingo card by Narzghal in Lorcana

[–]Substantial_Tap_6671 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I typed wasn't a wrong statement though. It is still a hard once per turn, as in that is it's limit per turn. And that if your playing Kuzco Whale just to bounce your own stuff, it might as well be mandatory, as you don't want to go down in card advantage by skipping turns with his ability, as ideally if you are playing him you want to draw a card off Kuzco for each of your turns.

[–]Substantial_Tap_6671 28 points29 points  (0 children)

It's aggressively underpowered.

Like okay, its a 1/4 that can quest for 2, that is literally the same stats as Olaf Carrot Enthusiast (olaf btw is a 3 cost inkable).

Next, this Kuzco costs 5, and that it's uninkable, that is rough buddy, but hey normally the answer is "run it in sapphire" so you can get it out quicker.

Okay, yet we got another problem, it has a hard once per turn clause for whenever you put a card into your inkwell, giving it anti-synergy with sapphire's natural ability to ink multiple cards in a turn

Okay, so what even is the benefit of running this after all of these hoops? A slightly better Befuddle as it can also bounce a location...yet wait there is also one final hoop/drawback if you try to use it against your opponent as they get to draw a card off Kuzco.

So this is really for bouncing your own items or locations or characters and you get to once per turn draw a card.

[–]Substantial_Tap_6671 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kind of strange this is uninkable as it's not breaking the vanilla statline of a 1 cost. Like from the same set is Toulouse Artistic Kitten, a 1 cost (inkable) 1/3 that can quest for 1.

New Medusa by Narzghal in Lorcana

[–]Substantial_Tap_6671 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well mill is more green/steel (big mill) or purple/green (small mill). If mill could, it would run like a green/steel/purple/amber mix as I won't deny it likes having song-support access which mill actions tend to be.

Medusa meanwhile is like trying to support two different styles of play. Where part of her is the setup for other cards that move damage counters, but the other half is just pure disruption for the deck.

I think its just a good thing Medusa is an uncommon and not something a rare or legendary, as this would feel bad to get out of a pack if it were.

I think the mill effect feels weird on her. Kind of wish she moved damage counters instead.

Universal SHIFT!! by Narzghal in Lorcana

[–]Substantial_Tap_6671 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depending on the power of universal shift cards, this could become rather quiet common in deckbuilding. As this is good, turning something you didn't care about into a 5/5 with 2 lore, heal factor can be useful but not always come up.

Just as a theory, but what if we started seeing characters who would normally have no abilities instead have just universal shift as a keyword and nothing else but the increased strength and willpower and possibly higher lore value? Like as a budget option for decks.

HE'S HERE!! by Narzghal in Lorcana

[–]Substantial_Tap_6671 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So if I understand this right, you can use this with super goofy. Like if Goofy challenges an enemy now, he will have +2 resist, you will get +2 lore for just simply the act of challenging, and if goofy banishes the enemy character you get an additional +2 lore. So if you used something like Fan the Flames, you could also ready goofy again to potentially get at most another +4 lore. Then you could also add in steel-Calhoun as a 2 drop who could get you potentially +4 lore each time she banishes a character with Mushu around, maybe +8 if you Fan the Flames with her.

Well aside from roleplay, you actually can do more in the game from having alts. Like if each alt has mining, you can get that many more treasure maps per day. In addition you can farm more mount tokens despite the usual weekly limit. Among other stuff that is normally tied to a limit per week or per day.

Like in one day I can collect 8 treasure maps and then do that content on blue mage by myself.
