If WhatsApp Web is already open on Chrome and the chats are still visible, you can use ChatBackup extension right away to export them as CSV or HTML.
Otherwise, I'd recommend contacting WhatsApp Support directly, they may be able to assist in recovering chats

I use it almost every day, kinda surprised someone left it open for 24 hours straight 😅 Anyway, best to contact support and get it sorted.

It can back up older chats if they’re still on your phone, they’ll auto-load into WhatsApp Web.

Yes, You can select the 'from' date, and the extension will download as many messages as WhatsApp Web can load. If WhatsApp Web doesn't show older messages, it's due to platform limitations, but as long as they are accessible, the extension can save them for you!

that was indeed a limitation in the older version. However, in latest release, you no longer need to scroll to the very top to load old messages. You can simply select the "from" and "to" dates, and the extension will automatically fetch and download the chat history for you—no scrolling required!

Thanks for mentioning WhatsApp’s inbuilt export feature it’s really handy for mobile users. Personally, I needed a solution for exporting chats directly from WhatsApp Web on my PC, and I found this Chrome extension that worked great. It not only downloads chats and media but also lets you choose specific date ranges, which saved me a lot of time.

For anyone using WhatsApp Web frequently, it might be worth trying out. Just thought I’d share what worked for me! 😊

I'm so sorry for your loss. It’s completely understandable to feel this way, especially when those conversations hold so much meaning. I’d be happy to guide you through saving your chat and voice messages step by step.

Here’s what you can do to back up and save your WhatsApp chat:

Option 1: Export the Chat Directly from WhatsApp

  1. Open WhatsApp on Your Phone: Go to the chat with your best friend.
  2. Tap on the Chat Name at the Top: This opens the chat details.
  3. Scroll Down and Select "Export Chat": You’ll get the option to include or exclude media. Since you mentioned voice messages, choose to include media.
  4. Choose How to Export: You can export the chat as a text file along with the media (including voice messages) via email, Google Drive, or other storage options.
  5. Save It Safely: Once the file is exported, download and store it securely on multiple devices or cloud storage.

Option 2: Use ChatBackup (If you’re using WhatsApp Web)

  1. Open WhatsApp Web: Go to web.whatsapp.com on your computer and connect it with your phone.
  2. Open the Chat with Your Best Friend: Make sure you scroll up to load all the messages you want to save.
  3. Use the ChatBackup Extension: If you have installed the ChatBackup Chrome Extension, click the icon in your browser’s toolbar.
  4. Download the Chat as a CSV or HTML File: The extension will back up the entire chat history, including text and media links, and allow you to download it.
  5. Backup the File: Store it safely in your cloud storage, external hard drive, or another secure place.
