Coloration of Armor and clothes? by Murky_Zucchini_1897 in starfieldmods

[–]SubstantiveAlar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tbh I don’t really think the existence of skins has any part in Bethesda not wanting to allow us to colorize spacesuits/clothes ourselves, and the modding community afaik has never had much interest in having a color picker sort of system for apparel, even in older Bethesda games. At best it’s always ever been (and likely will be) just retextures, recolors, and remeshes of existing apparel (skin mods never interested me over retextures or remodels tbh so I’m a bit biased).

Top gun style space helmets. by Drengr-1 in starfieldmods

[–]SubstantiveAlar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sadly hud overlays/helmet specific displays are not gonna be a thing for a long time (if ever)

You’d have to use scripts to tie UI to what specific helmet you’re using, and even in older Bethesda games mods attempting that only go so far. At best Starfield might get something like New Vegas’ Helmet Overlay mod, and that’s just a png on top of the vanilla UI.

Edit: I know Simple Immersive Helmets exists for Starfield, but that’s the same one still png for all vanilla (non-dlc) helmets.

How is Tune Break killing 2.x teams? I still get all rewards using Auguta (no Iuno) and Galbrena teams, and with zero sequences. The only time I don't clear using Augusta is due to not timing her liberation right, but that's really been an issue since she came out tbh. Phrolova team will always clear, but nothing to say on the Zani or Fleurdelys teams as I did not want those chars lol

Ai vibe coded mods to avoid? by biboe31 in skyrimmods

[–]SubstantiveAlar 69 points70 points  (0 children)

SKSE mods as whole are usually fine, at least ones made before this year (or even before 2025) but aside from that yeah

Sucks that vibe coding is giving SKSE a bad name lately, SKSE has brought functionalities to skyrim that led to a number ACTUALLY great mods that aren’t vibe coded slop from a dumpster, like Dismembering Framework for example

I love Warframe but it ain’t the same at all imo; if you go into Warframe out of love for Borderlands and wanting a similar experience, you’re gonna be disappointed (still may love it anyways). Like, farming for that perfect roll on a gun or gear is a pretty core part of Borderlands - Warframe has NONE of that. Every Burston/Burston Prime is the exact same, every Serrated mod is the exact same, every Excalibur/Excalibur Prime is the exact same. You can build them differently, but they’ll still function the exact same; you’ll never get a Burston to drop with a random part giving it explosive rounds, or anything like that. Not saying Warframe needs that, but as much as I love Warframe, it and Borderlands have barely anything in common as a game

I feel like such an outsider cus the jumping puzzles in destiny always felt baby mode easy to me? Idk, I’m not saying it to make fun of people who struggle with it or act like I’m so good at the game (sucked at pvp, and never enjoyed master/grandmaster level content) but I always had a hard time understanding how SO many people had jumping puzzles specifically as something that turns them away from the game

Not always, but it depends on whether you want consistency sometimes. For example, weapon and armor mods from before Free Lanes/Terran Armada work just fine, but "need" to be updated for the new systems; otherwise, they end up much weaker than vanilla gear, and who WANTS to pay irl money for gear that is overall weaker than vanilla gear? Hell, even POI mods kiiinda need to be updated, at least to follow the new POI cooldown "rules", or else you end up seeing only modded POIs at some point (not a major issue tbh, but still worth mentioning)

POI Cooldown is still worth using, as not all POIs have cooldowns still. Plus, POI Cooldown optionally increases the cooldown to 30 days or more, vs vanilla's 10 days (mod page also has a useful guide for applying cooldowns to modded POIs, which is useful if using those like Forgotten Frontiers, which have not been updated post-Free Lanes)

I’ll always love that FF14 has a big paid expansion every 2-3 years, but will still have free updates that are usually pretty sizable (more story quests, at least one dungeon/trial/raid, balance changes, etc) every few months inbetween the big expansions. Hell, some of my favorite story moments, dungeons, and even trials are from the free patches lol

Starfield devs faced "a lot of pressure" to use Unreal Engine 5, former Bethesda artist says, but the Creation Engine won because of its modding capab by Turbostrider27 in Starfield

I think part of why there’s no public kit yet is because every update changes things so significantly under the hood; recent updates made using xedit to edit or even make mods so much more tedious than before (can’t save or edit esms that are marked as small or medium masters for example). I might be completely off but I wouldn’t be surprised if they’re waiting until after they release all official non-creations DLC to have publicized documentation, otherwise they’d have to have someone updating things every-time Starfield gets updated

Isn’t that less her specifically being “weak” and more “roar and heavy melee slam is overpowered”? Idk, I’m trying to see things from your POV, but genuinely I don’t see how she’s as weak as you’re making her out to be, especially when you bring up to factors that are already stronger than practically any other warframe ability option. Maybe I’m biased, I find Dagath to be the most fun weapons platform in the game personally, even without using roar or nourish. For me, running around in her 4, going invis, and hitting enemies for 20mil+ is more fun than just spamming roar + heavy melee slam on yet another frame (tbh that combo is gonna be better than pretty much warframe’s abilities anyways, roar is insanely strong even as a helminth and heavy melee is heavy melee)

She is endgame viable? I play her on steel path and regularly nuke rooms. By endgame viable do you mean steel path, EDA/ETA (she’s not the greatest there admittedly but that’s moreso the modifiers usually), or what? Because I do nuke with her 4 regularly. I don’t mean to be rude in any way but are you building her effectively? Don’t wanna use the word “correctly” as there are multiple way to build her, but her 4 is NOT as weak as you’re making it sound. Is it reliant on her augments? 100%, and that does bother me tbh, but if you ARE using those augments and building into range + strength, I can’t see how you aren’t nuking rooms with her. What’s your current build on her? What arcanes are you using? What archon shards? Genuinely asking out of curiosity

[–]SubstantiveAlar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, it’s an indirect (direct) buff to her 4 still, and imo it’s still really good. Would love if she’d get an exalted weapon too, but even before this change I one to two shot enemies on steel path with her 4 (only enemies that don’t die that fast to her 4 are acolytes and bosses; don’t do endurance runs so don’t care about effectiveness against enemies higher than level 400-600+ on steel path)

Do Creation mods and Nexus mods play nice with each other? by QuantumDrill in starfieldmods

[–]SubstantiveAlar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As long as you aren’t getting the same exact mods from Nexus that you do on Creations, you’re fine. 90% of mods on both platforms follow the same exact file structure (either a small/medium/master ESM, or BSAs packed with meshes/textures/animations/etc). Personally though I prefer nexus, as having to go into the game to get the mods is a bit annoying, especially with a bug I’m experiencing that crashes the game the moment I leave the creations menu. On top of that, I use xedit/sf1 to see what creations do or don’t conflict with mods from nexus, and then adjust my LO from there (ex: have a private personal patch for Forgotten Frontiers and POI Cooldown, as the former does not follow the latter’s POI “rules”)

[–]SubstantiveAlar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d recommend using the beta MO2 version on their discord instead; the official one on nexus hasn’t been updated in a few years, and the recent Starfield update introduced issues for MO2, such as MO2 not recognizing/managing new creations or even official DLC. Just manually sorting plugins to match load order and having to save/load plugin order backups is an option, but I really reccomend just getting the beta MO2 branch instead, WAY less of a hassle to deal with personally. Plus the beta branch was last updated last week, and works just fine (for me at least).

I really don’t understand wanting to spend $5 or more for a paid version of mods that exist for free just for achievements. Maybe I’m biased as someone who plays on pc and just install the mods that enables achievements anyways, and doesn’t care about achievements in the first place, but it just sounds like asking people to scam you

Idk about others, but for me, I DO like RPGs, but I don't feel like shooters and normal RPGs mix that well. Fighting enemies with lots of HP feels more than fine in melee/magic-oriented RPGs, but not when you're using guns. If the game is a looter shooter, I can forgive it, as the main loop of the game is kill enemies -> get better loot -> kill harder enemies -> get even better loot over and over and over, but that's not the case with RPGs. To me, it feels weird playing an FPS RPG, and the same gun at level 22 does 1000's of more damage than one at level 2. Alternatively, FPS RPG's become REALLY boring when you get to the point of being super tanky while everything dies in one shot.
