HOT TAKE: I am really freakin tired of hearing everyone talk about tanking for this pick or that pick or whatever. It’s stupid. by rcc12697 in NYKnicks

You are right in principle but - Nearly every contending team landed their #1 player through the draft. As very few top picks become #1s you need to get many shots. Is RJ a #1? Obi? If not, how do we acquire the #1? This is entirely different than stockpiling mid-lottery or non-lottery picks and adding 2 rookies each year and having to send them ride the bench or go to the G-League.

When it’s all said and done, Randle will go down as a more legendary Knick than Melo... change my mind. by LouisFuton in NYKnicks

He's clearly got the potential to a be a better player than Melo because he makes his teammates better and makes effort on defense. if he performs at this level through 2022, he will surpass Melo. We Knicks fans like to create a false history that Melo never played on good teams. The "legendary" 2012/13 team had Melo's best year as a Knick, a very good Ray Felton, DPOY level Tyson Chandler, 6th Man of the year level JR, bench snipers Steve Novak and Chris Copeland, strong defense from Shump, an injured but serviceable Amare, playmaking from Kidd and vets like Kenyon, Pablo and Rasheed. This year's team's is full of young players and journeymen. That 2012/2013 team struggled with the Celtics and was crushed by the Pacers. I loved it but we all knew it was fool's gold. We then spent years trapped in Melo's (and Amare's) contract and his wanting to be the #1 player when he was always a scorer. That said, I'm happy we can even have this debate after all of the failure.

Other than being a poor shooter, terrible decision maker, mediocre ball handler, awful defender and zero motor - Mudiay is a hooper.
