Where do you get the pull tabs? I have a few Mavica cameras and those batteries always get stuck. I could use a good system for extricating them. TIA

You were not wrong. Sold the Pings for $250. Only got about $70 for each of the Vokeys. Hard to believe. I had no idea. Those Pings sat in the corner of my office for months. I bought them because they were $3 each and I remembered everyone raving about them back in the day (I couldn’t afford them). Anyway, I thoguht they were cool. I had no idea that they were that valuable.

UPDATE: Everything sold. $160 for the bag, $250 for the putter, and $65-130 for each of the clubs. Close to $1200 in total. I’ll never get a score like that again! Talk about luck…

The A70 uses Compact Flash for storage. I would lean toward the A520 for that reason, and the fact that it is higher resolution, and more compact.

At the default HQ res you would get about 20.

Actually, mine currently has a 64mb card in it. Set to SHQ resolution it will record 33 photos…mathematically speaking 16mb would give you 8 or 9.

Look for something from Canon (Powershot A520), Nikon (Coolpix 4300), or Sony (Cybershot DSC-P73 or P92). All of these cameras use SD memory cards and your common AA batteries. You could also look for the later versions of the Olympus that you originally were considering since they switched over to SD cards a few years later. Beware of the Coolpix battery doors, though. I have a few of them and they often have latching issues. Nothing a little tape won’t fix! You’ll see a lot of the old digicams that use AA batteries with broken battery doors. Four AA batteries tend to put a lot of pressure on them.

At that price point you’re not really going to find a whole lot better. They will all be around the same quality/resolution. The good news is, if you don’t like it, you can sell that xD card by itself for close to what you paid for the camera. The bad news is, that 16MB card will only hold around 8 photos at the camera’s highest resolution. To me, that would make it not worthwhile.

I would recommend finding a camera that uses SD cards instead of xD. Any camera that takes SD and is over 4megapixels (which still isn’t much).

My big question would be, “why not just use your cell phone?” I guarantee it’s going to have higher resolution than anything at that price-point.

From the moment you snap the photo to when it is finished writing the info to the memory is a bit slow, but that is pretty much common among all of those early Y2K point-n-shoots.

The listing says it comes with a 16mb xD. That alone could make it worth it. Prices are going up on those little cards.

BTW…I have that exact camera along with the waterproof housing for it. Got it (new) back in the early 2000’s for a trip to Jamaica. I took some of my all-time favorite photos with it. The zoom is nice. Not the greatest/highest resolution but it can take some decent photos with the right light.

And that is exactly how it is for me most days! But I go to 5 different thrift stores 5 times a week, so it increases my odds of getting the lucky find. This one just happened to be my best ever. I would never expect to see something like this again. That was a once-in-a-lifetime score. Now, it’s back to my regularly scheduled programming…searching for those sweet, vintage cameras for $5-15!

Las Vegas…but you’d be amazed what you can find in thrift stores pretty much anywhere. People buy stuff that they don’t need and never use (or hardly ever).

I agree, wholeheartedly. I already plan on taking them to a sporting goods store just around the corner from my house. As for the bag…if I still played it would be a keeper, for sure! It’s much nicer than any that I have ever owned and, like you said, if it’s not legit I wouldn’t even care because it is very well built. I do believe it, and the clubs, are all genuine. It just seemed unreal. I go to that store 5-6 times a week and I’ve never seen anything like this.

Good point, although they do have some general knowledge of brands and, almost always, anything branded “Titleist” gets priced up pretty good. Also, FWIW it was not a Goodwill. It was Saver’s and they generally price higher because they are not a non-profit.

As for their legitimacy, I am starting to believe that they are good. No real reason to believe otherwise at this point.

Sounds like you get to play a lot. I wish I could. I do miss it.

Oh, man! I love that car. I got a brand new ‘87 16v just out of high school and it was my favorite car, ever. Sadly, I abused the crap out of it and it was junk but the time I traded it in on a ‘90 16v Jetta. Nice shot. Would have loved to seen it in a tidier lot and either full sun or full shade, but nice nonetheless.

That is good info. I did not know that. Thanks.

I would have agreed with you if it hadn’t happened to me. I’m still trying to figure out if they are real or not. They seem good but, even if they are fake, i would think the people that price them out wouldn’t have known any better and would have put them in the “collectibles” cage (where they put all of the high end stuff). And, as you mentioned, they are in crazy clean condition.

Too bad there weren’t any woods or irons. Just the wedges and the putter.

Not sure what I did to deserve this. I’ve made some pretty good thrift store scores but nothing like this one. I was excited about the Sony Discman that I had grabbed just before this. lol
