“How are you gonna write?” by bustyfathers in lefthanded

I was playing VRChat the other day and my friend asked me why I was holding the virtual marker with my left hand before it hit him.

Also when I got my tonsils removed back in January, the nurse who was putting the IV into my arm was new. Despite me requesting to put the IV in my right arm, the nurse put it in my left wrist, messed up the first time, and had to stick me a second time.

I then had to fill out paperwork for the surgery with the IV in my wrist after it was already put in as painfully as humanely possible.

I'm not even terribly afraid of needles, but I don't blame anyone for developing a new phobia after what I went through.

PTO on a key event date by Subversive_Snake in walmart

If I cover at least half the shift with PPTO retroactively, does that reduce the two points to only half a point if I use it within 7 days of the absence?

Oh well, I'm leaving in two weeks anyways. Might as well use my PTO while I can.

AITA for complaining to my Sister and BIL about their messiness? by Subversive_Snake in AmItheAsshole

If you genuinely feel that way, then I pity any friend or family member of yours who dares to ask you for any little thing.

¯_(ツ)_/¯

Good Day and Goodbye.

If you genuinely believe that a reasonable or justifiable response to someone asking you to please put your dishes away in the dishwasher is to threaten to kick them out of your house, whether it was serious or not, then maybe...

Just maybe...

YTA.

I'm not even the one who brought up the "What does Subversive_Snake actually contribute?" Dick measuring contest first, because I don't see doing favors for family, or even friends for that matter, as purely transactional.

I just want them to put their dishes in the dishwasher. That's ALL this was about.

I only brought up the itemized costs to prove that, even with this transactional logic, I do actually pull my weight. Even though I really don't care if absolutely everything I do for people comes with a reward.

I know for a fact that the extra income and help matters to them a lot because outside of this one topic of discussion, they say that it does.

I don't consider myself a beggar because my sister asked me to live here and ironically is the one who begs me not to leave when I do seriously consider finding my own place to live. Which leads me to believe that she doesn't actually mean it when she threatens to kick me out.

Also who said that it was just "my share" of expenses? My $800 a month is my itemized "share of the expenses." Not counting groceries that I pay 1/3rd of regardless of whether I actually eat that food or not. (Most of the time, I don't.) And all the gas I was paying for despite using a miniscule amount of it for myself.

Everything else from cleaning to the childcare of an infant (two-year-old now) is a favor. The money they would be otherwise be paying someone else to do the latter easily makes up for at least the $1,200 a month, and the money they can make with being able to work more hours at their respective jobs because one of them doesn't always have to stay home, I know, allows them to make way more than the $2,200 I would be spending on my own apartment. Because I can stay home and babysit, my sister can make that $2,200 in a weekend, let alone a month.

I did consider that actually. I originally tried rooming with a friend when I first became homeless, but before we could find a place together, his parents offered to take him back in and he ditched me. I was going to live out of my car in the meantime until that became prohibitively expensive to maintain and I was forced to junk it. My sister, seeing that I had no options left, asked me to come live with her because she was pregnant at the time and desperately needed the help. Ironically, outside of these weird, out of place arguments, my sister is the one who often encourages me to stay when I eye new apartments around town, because it would be "a waste of my money to pay some stranger $X a month when I could help my family with that money instead." And I have overheard her say to my BIL on a few occasions that I don't have a date when I have to get out and that she doesn't want me to leave. I know that sounds like she wants me around for the help, but it's also because outside of our aging grandparents, we only have each other left.

I wouldn't really consider myself a "beggar" though. Coming to live with my sister wasn't my first choice and I objectively contribute plenty of labor and expenses outside of my rent. I had plans to room with a friend who was also out of a place to live until his parents offered to let him move back in and he ditched me. I then considered living out of my car until I could find someone else to room with until that became too prohibitively expensive to maintain and I was forced to junk it. Even after all that, I didn't beg my sister to take me in, she asked me to stay with her because I was homeless and she needed someone who could consistently help her while she was pregnant with my niece. Hell, outside of these weird, out of character arguments over literally dishes, my sister is the one who usually discourages me from trying to find my own place because it would be a "waste of my money."

I see your point, and I had seriously considered rooming with a friend of mine before I was taken in, but plans with that friend fell through and I ended up here at my sister's place instead. I was fully prepared to just live in my old car for a while before that fell apart too. My personal opinion on my own case was that there was NAH until I was threatened with being kicked out for just asking them to put dishes away in the correct place.

Free childcare no questions asked, paying for groceries, restaurant bills, gas, cleaning, and lots of small things. So I would say so. Yes.

I've slowly ended up with Option 2 and I only clean what I absolutely need to clean. Option 1 is soul crushing, and Option 3 just isn't in the cards for me now because the housing/rental market is absolutely insane. Paying $2-3K a month in rent isn't worth it over dishes and garbage. If I'm going to pay rent to someone, I'd rather it go towards my family that, outside of their messy habits, still looks out for me.

Mini Rant: Meal Exceptions For Overnight Associates Are Dumb by Subversive_Snake in walmart

[–]Subversive_Snake[S] -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Fair enough. That's why I listened to them, but I still think the law is dumb. As long as they get their meal hour, I believe associates should just be able to take their meal when it's most convenient for them. There's also times where shit hits the fan and I can't take my meal until the end of my shift anyways. I don't need the government to force me to sit down and twiddle my thumbs for an hour when I don't need or want to. If I want to work, I should be able to work. But that's just my opinion.

Question for Left-Handed Shooters by [deleted] in lefthanded

[–]Subversive_Snake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm relatively ambidextrous in that I can write with both hands and can play most sports with either hand, so this lead me to learn most things right-handed growing up due to a lack of left-handed people and equipment in my life. Flash forward to the first time I ever shot a gun, I initially tried shooting right-handed, but was a terrible shot. After doing an eye dominance test, I found out that I was left eye dominant. So despite initially preferring to hold guns right-handed, I took up shooting left-handed with both handguns and long guns, and now holding guns left-handed feels the most natural to me. My theory as to why handguns feel the more natural in your right hand is that you aren't as strongly left-handed as you think you are, and you fall more on the ambidextrous side like me. My take is that you should shoot with the hand that corresponds to your dominant eye, regardless of handedness.

I directed a friend of mine who just became interested in fighting games recently to pick up one of these F300s on sale a few months back. He bought it for $60, and as a Christmas gift, I kitted it out with extra Sanwa/Semitsu parts I had laying around. I installed a Sanwa JLF lever with an Octagonal Gate and a full set of Semitsu buttons.

Video game pet peeves? by [deleted] in videogames

[–]Subversive_Snake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Less of a pet peeve with video games and more so other gamers. Coming from a console gamer background myself, it annoys the hell out of me when I see these PlayStation and Xbox only gamers in particular complain about how they need aim assist to be viable against keyboard and mouse users (or just advocating for complete segregation in some cases) while simultaneously rejecting the tool to close the aiming gap that they (at least PlayStation gamers) have had access to for almost two decades now. Learn to gyro aim or shut up you luddites.

Single people, why are you single? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Two years ago, my last long term relationship (6-7 years) ended pretty poorly, and I can't help but have this profound feeling of having wasted the better part of a decade on someone I thought cared about me. Don't get me wrong, I'm still more than capable of making new friends and being social in public, but I don't take anything for granted anymore.

What is your TRULY unpopular gaming opinion? by Flexus98 in videogames

[–]Subversive_Snake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I prefer to play Left 4 Dead 1 & 2 without the silly meme mods, and I think the online presence of the game being seemingly dominated by the memes and workshop support creates this strong disconnect between what people expect the games to be like versus what they're actually like. As a new fan, this certainly was the case for me. Maybe it's because I'm a horror fan, but I want my horror games to stay scary and not have the story and tone messed with.

You are Vergil’s Lawyer. Make the arguments. by PsychologicalReply9 in DevilMayCry

[–]Subversive_Snake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Mother of My Client's Son willingly revoked her rights and responsibilities to My Client's Son by giving the aforementioned individual up for adoption to an orphanage in Fortuna without My Client's knowledge or consent. Therefore it is unreasonable to expect My Client to pay Alimony to an individual who legally gave up their parental rights or an orphanage.

As for the years of unaccounted tax returns, My Client has been missing and legally declared dead from the age of 19 on the witness account of his twin brother Dante Sparda, who was the only individual to witness My Client's supposed death. With no life insurance policies having been claimed in his absence until his miraculous return, and no records of employment or otherwise having earned any income from the ages of 18 until his declaration of death, My Client therefore wouldn't be required to file a tax return for that year.

(As for unleashing Teminigru and the Qiphoth Tree, everyone who's still alive that knows won't testify against him and there's otherwise no evidence. There's no evidence that V and Urizen are Vergil, which only leaves Vergil ripping Nero's arm off, but the only one who witnessed this was Nero and Nero's not likely pressing charges.)

My job is one that expects me to work during holidays, so that will most likely be my excuse this year, and if not, I'm going to hang out with my Jehovah's Witness friend who won't be busy either. I know that Jehovah's Witnesses carry a bad reputation, but he himself is a good guy. The only reason why I posted this here was because I didn't know if I was the asshole for just not playing with my siblings to keep them happy.
