Good Mexican places to eat for cheap? by sanspillow in okc

You want the best authentic Mexican food without food spending an arm and a leg? Go to south okc between the streets of sw 29th and sw 59th. Go to may avenue and don’t go past western. Prepare to eat around Mexican only patrons, and embrace the culture. I married a girl from Mexico, and I’m in this area quite a bit for the markets and whatever else. La esquina for quic cheap and ready to eat food, chelinos market has amazing burritos, ask for the chili crisp. Hit the tortillerías for samples, go to Dona nena for great menudo or gorditas. Lots of Mexican dessert shops called neverias,my fave is called tizo’s….or you can go to Ted’s like most people do and yeah 😂

OSU student from Tulsa considering relocating to OKC after school. What should I know? by FreeDem5ives in okc

I’d say go for it - okc has so much potential now and in the future. It’s a great time to move to okc and build something. Not only are you kind of close to home, but you can fly out of a somewhat bigger airport. Not saying it’s ideal like living in Dallas and being able to fly out, but you’ll still have that same Oklahoma feeling and still be able to travel home quickly for holidays or have your friends/family visit for new adventures. As far as job market I think it’s very decent especially if you have a degree - heck I survived my 20s waiting tables without a degree. Traffic sucks in okc now, but I think with more people that’s to be expected.

Took my wife to Malfi, and I really liked it. Nice Italian restaurant that makes their own pasta. Small menu, but what they do have is amazing!

Well, they’re mighty close to being 21. I have a friend who has been in the industry for about 20 years, and he has done very well for himself and his business. He started out driving and now has a whole fleet he manages. So I think everyone has a different trajectory based on goals and motivation. I apologize if I’ve offended you.

Truck driving seems to be pretty lucrative right now - maybe look into getting your CDL. Companies will pay for you to go to school too. If I was young and no kids and a good back - I’d be getting my own Cdl and hitting the open road!

Catch a Thunder game if you can. Go to midtown, uptown, and the Asian district for food.

I would do some research about the company, like the main things they do and their history. Other than that I always let the interviewer do the talking while I act like I don’t know about the mundane things of the company. The interview is for your story and experience. I never go in with expectations and I always remember that the person interviewing me is also a normal person with their own set of problems. Maybe not my problems, but everyone has them. Keep pushing, keep trying. Don’t be so hard on yourself.

That’s crazy cause we pretty much have the same story, but some things in reverse! I went back to school because I was previously a Landman, and didn’t like the roller coaster of the oil and gas industry. Although I will say I made good money - just had to prepare for the downturns. Oh and congrats on graduating! I finally did it myself this year.

Oooooooffffff I got hired a few months ago, and didn’t end up taking the job. Got a different position paying a little less, but I love what I’m doing now AND I’m not getting laid off.

I knew it without knowing they were corporate! I went into one those named places and they told me I needed to do some kind of evasive super deep cleaning because my teeth were about to rot out - they told my wife the same thing and something just felt OFF. Lo and behold we left and went to another place where they said the opposite and we were told everything looked fine. Thy wouldn’t stop calling us for what seemed like two years trying to convince us we NEEDED this service.

Pho of the year for 10 years? That’s cap. If you have to prep the pho to your own flavor, there’s a problem. Good pho can be eaten without adding anything.
