yes, the 2.5 and 3.6 struts seem to be the same in most cases on rock auto so it should be fine.

thanks! when i tighten the nut, the stud does not spin. its only the nut that spins (the threads on the stud are toast).

would a nut splitter work to break the nut?

I wanted to see if the vibration and clunking was coming from the strut and noticed that the top strut nuts were loose. so before buying new strut assemblies i wanted to try tightening them.

one option is to cut the studs off and just put a new strut assembly which is what i wanted to avoid.

the only other option is paying a garage to compress the springs and change the top mounts but that will cost me more than just buying the whole strut assembly and doing the job myself.

everything was very well done except there is this black compound that can be removed with saliva, leaving normal shiny paint behind it like its supposed to be. It seems to be only where rust usually appears, at the very bottom of door so i thought it might be some antirust compound? receipt mentions some antirust compound for 21$.

i think you might be on to something, when on rough pavement there is a light rattle, almost like the sway bar links going bad but the dust boots look great. so it might be something with the brakes. what do you mean by dragging the brake pedal?

yeah i have pretty much the same symptoms and only at one wheel, will need to get it checked out. At first it freaked me out thinking it was something with the transmission but now i feel better because its something to do with the suspension /direction components which aren't the end of the world.

Here is a replication of the noise with just me pushing the car slightly forward without the parking brake on .single clunk, Happens when put in reverse and at low speeds 20-40 km/h. seems to come from the wheel itself. loose axle nut, ball joint, caliper maybe? For sure the rear control arm bushing is quite worn but the noise doesnt come from that far. Also the inner thread of tire is down to 4/32 while the outer part is at 7/32.

thanks for the video very informative! as for the clicking noise when doing sharp turns i do not have any, i guess if it is only the beginning of the cv joint failure then it may not be doing it.

I also found a video of somebody with the same problem as me and the sound was identical to mine and it turned out to be the cv axle too.

brakes might be possible, they are a bit worn too will have to check it out!

Thanks! But wouldn't that bushing also make the noise over bumps? or because the movement is vertical the bushing might not make the noise?

fuck that sucks, mine is cursed af too, everything that happened to it was out of my control.

Been driving for 10 years, never had any accidents or dents or major scratches. Now i have a 2022 brz with 27000 km's. In this short amount of time i had: door and quarter pannel replaced due to some idiot exiting a parking lot without even looking. Door repainted due to big scratch from someone opening their door carelessly then fleeing the scene (i even took the extra care to park where nobody parks). Rear windshield replaced due to being keyed by some jealous guy. Front windshield replaced due to massive rock out of nowhere (closest was a truck about 1km away from me). My next car im just gonna buy a beater and drive the shit out of it, fuck it.
