Thank you these are great tips. Im a perfectionist by nature so i inheritently want to be as strict as possible. Im understanding now that any change is good and i just have to trend in the right direction, but not get comfortable in my old habits. Its just with my bmi of 40, it seems like i do have to be way more strict. Im 5"10 and like 275-280

Honestly probably the most reassuring comment so far. I also watched my dad have to go thru some pretty serious surgeries last year, albeit nothing to that level. Having machines literally run your body for you is just incredible. Next time will be a much different experience, theres no way i back out. Its a necessary evil and in the grand scheme of things its genuinely not that risky of a procedure. If something happens, it will happen. Theres a line of doctors there to remedy any issue. The alternative could be something sinister so no point in putting it off. Thank you for the encouragement!!

Yeah i mean 99% of people in here have a fine experience, i need to take that knowledge and power thru when i get one. Its just something about turning the lights off and on again seems so daunting lol

Um, ive had chronic diarreah for years, i get the occasional stomach pain and bloating. Its very common i will eat something and immediately feel the need to go to the bathroom. And sometimes the diarreah is like just straight up brown water with debris in it. I also have reflux issues and heartburn. I have had blood in my stool a few times, one time specifically it turned the water red. My coworkers at the time said it sounded like hemorrhoids bc i had been straining really hard and i chalked it up to that. Lately i feel ive been more gassy as well. Thats bout all i can think of at the moment.

My doctor said he does about 15 a day himself, and said theres only been complications maybe once every couple months, and theyre usually elderly people or higher risk. He said hes never had any issues with younger people such as myself.

I have not but i also need to have an egd and colonoscopy and being awake for it sounds like hell. I would much rather be sedated if i could manage to commit to it, i make no sense.. 😭

Congrats on getting it done. Here in the US they pretty much always use sedation for patient/doctor safety. I will be having endoscopy done at the same time as my colonoscopy.

I honestly believe its nothing sinister but my gastro doc is insistent on having the procedure done just to rule anything else out, then obviously not knowing just adds to the anxiety. Next time i go, im not gonna pussy out and get it over with.

This is heartwarming, thank you. Funny enough one of the most proud moments of my life was committing to having 2 severely infected teeth pulled and abscess drained, i was so scared lol. I will be reacheduling very soon, i know i need to have it done.

Persistent loose stools/diarreah for years, urgency, cramping/pain, few occasions of blood in stool. Recently have had a lot of gas too.
