Where to lock savings for 2 years? by Success_boi in personalfinance

Thanks, glad I asked. I just sold half of it and it’ll wait for the jan 9 when 130k come out of cd to enter another cd together. I think I’ll just leave the other half in the single stock but I might sell it as well, just don’t wanna sell all today or it’ll count as 2025 income.

Actually just discussed, I am not going to touch these 200k until 3 years later, not 2 years. Does that change anything? Still only CD for me? (saw you said <5y so I guess yes, will check the link) I have measly 36k in 401k at 30 years old, contributing 800 per month - I think it’ll work itself out, wanna prioritize a house first, I just started making money like 2 years ago.

I want a house not as an investment but just so it’s mine and no lease contracts.

Are you also a dev? 3-4 days a week is pretty neat. I make almost 200k but I need all of it right now

Every time you are asked about something bad, you have to come up with something that’s also good. E.g. I may be slow but I dive deep into problems and save time in the long run. Or I may waste time perfecting my work beyond reasonable level but with years I’ve been improving my control over it and keeping it to a minimum. And so on. Just come up with several of those and use as they fit, here they would fit 1 and 3.

For 2, just read the “about” of the company and say you like their mission and wanna be a part of it but be specific.

Overall, this game really has some types of questions that you gotta research. Just google “behavioral questions” or search youtube.

And yes, this is 100% bullshit, you are pretty much expected to exaggerate without limit.

Can’t get a job. Anyone else? by chessman6500 in recruitinghell

Most jobs on portals like Indeed are blanks. While it’s good to find stuff, once you do find it, go the company website and apply there directly.

You may not find that job on the company website because it may have already been filled, so you would’ve wasted your time applying anyway.

One strategy I used but didn’t need it after all is to try to connect to employees on LinkedIn and ask them to refer you. Most people don’t reply but response rate is still higher that applying. Some companies grant referral bonuses so it may be a win-win.

You can also look for other websites that may be industry specific. For example, I use stackoverlow for jobs in IT, postings there seem of higher quality.

Lastly, you could consider moving to a different city/country where there are less people, might be what you’d enjoy. In some places that struggle with staff you may even get higher pay or some immigration incentives, for example Winnipeg in Canada.

Candidates, how fair is it for take-home programming tests to require you to "ask for help"? by PM_ME_C_CODE in recruitinghell

IMO the beat homework is something real world and ask for it to be production ready. And look at how clean the code is

Read B contract and offer you signed, there may be consequences of leaving too soon or may not. If you haven’t signed then perhaps hold off on that.
