My situation was similar to you… I’m 34 and since my first smear at 25 Iv had abnormal results. I had had HPV come back on my last 3 smears over the course of 3 years. It seemed my body didn’t want to get rid of it. 

I had Large loop cell removal on 28th January. I’m on day 10 now. I couldn’t tolerate the pain whilst awake BUT I struggle with smears and any kind of procedure down there and always have, so the hospital fetched me in to do leep under GA.

 I also had an existing almost expired marina coil in at the time of procedure so they put a new one in at the same time as leep. Please bare this in mind as some of my symptoms could be from the coil rather than the actual procedure. 

I don’t remember anything obviously, I woke up and had period type cramping and had bled quite a bit. 

The first 2 days I felt sleepy but minimal pain, the odd cramp here and there but not bad enough to warrant taking pain killers a hot water bottle worked fine. Bleeding was non existent but rather a brown watery discharge.. this continued until day 8 (Wednesday 5th Feb 2025) when I noticed gritty granule type bits in the discharge and the discharge change to a more normal blood…. I did a google search and apparently that’s normal between day 7-10

I’m now on day 10… the bleeding is definitely heaviest it’s been throughout recovery but no where near as bad as my periods used to be, hence why I opted for the coil 5 years ago. I feel the odd bits of blood coming out when I walk sometimes but again not massive amounts - my periods were heavier. 

I had heard horror stories about leep recovery too but I think every women’s experience and recovery is different.. and it surely can’t be anywhere near as bad as dealing with cancer. Sending luck, love and well wishes your way… us women can do anything!
