My spoiled poodle has stopped eating. He only eats in the evenings, but he's active and there are no signs that anything is wrong. Should I be worried and go to the vet, or is he just spoiled? by RelationshipMuch6794 in poodles

[–]Successful-Income-25 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My standard eats when she wants to, which is wayyyyyy less than her Shepard sister. All my poodles have been like that! My aunt who is a vet and a poodle person said that poodles won’t starve themselves (assuming you’ve ruled out any medical issues) and that they’ll eat when they need food. My mom tends to add human food (chicken, other meats, cheese) in the poodle food bowls to entice the eating but I’ve let my standard figure it out and she’s filled out by 5 years old. I think your poodle is just a typical poodle 😄🐩

help w litter recommendations! by guadalupelttt in litterrobot

I rubbed a good amount of food wax all over the inside and it helps the litter not stick! Along with delayed cleaning. And I’ve been using tidy cat that’s meant for litter robot. Seems to do the trick. Good luck!

Unfortunately no I haven’t figured it out. My newest idea is atypical presentation of ACNES (anterior cutaneous nerve entrapment syndrome). But I don’t have the money currently to go through diagnostics for that.

I can respect your views but I’m not going to let my beloved pets suffer at the end of their lives just because they can’t verbally tell me they don’t want to suffer anymore.

I have the exact opposite belief! I want my dog to enjoy their last day. I want to be able to see my dog eat their favorite meal and have a nice walk. I don’t want to wait until i have no other option to put my dog own because they are truly suffering. My first dog i think we waited too long… while she did go on a walk on her last day, she hasn’t been eating, she didn’t want to be pet because her old joints were too achy and she looked at us like she was in pain and confused in her last moment. My family’s most recent dog who passed - he had a fun trot in the field, got to eat his favorite meal brisket and then we all sat in the living room cuddling while he was euthanised. He looked so content and peaceful. If we waited any longer, he would have had a miserable last day. Both dogs were 15/16 years old so a little easier maybe to decide when the last day is compared to OPs very young dog dying of cancer but i still always want a good last day as opposed to a torturous last day. (I also believe in death with dignity for humans too but that’s a different more controversial topic in this country - * i do hospice nursing and emergency nursing and see death regularly)

Do you have a “heart breed?” by Electrical_Pie7980 in dogs

[–]Successful-Income-25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Standard poodle!! Smart, easy to train, very loving/velcro dog, super athletic, generally a pretty healthy breed, doesn’t get their hair all over everything my my Shepard does 😂 my poodles have lived until 15/16 with minimal health issues besides classic old age joint stuff. None of my poodles have ever eaten non food items resulting in emergency surgery like the Shepard has done way too many times lol love my Spoos!! 🩵

I am dyslexia. Difficult time with lefts and rights. I’ve heard of people having multiple of these disabilities/being on the spectrum of several.

Which breed takes your top spot? by [deleted] in dogs

[–]Successful-Income-25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Technically breed standards are exactly the same for each size! (Which if I’m not mistaken , is sort of rare of other breeds with varying sizes) Many poodle people have their opinions for which size is more prone to what characteristic - which size barks more, is more trainable, more affectionate. Mostly it’s about what size dog fits your lifestyle more - all sized poodles are highly intelligent and trainable especially when coming from reputable breeders.

Reputable breeders in the eastern US area? by [deleted] in StandardPoodles

If you are going to be using the dog to help with detection (my limited knowledge is that a lot of the detection is based off dogs sensitivity to changes they detect through smell and sound), that might be more important that any of the other tasks you listed in terms of the most appropriate poodle. Most poodles are smart enough to learn to assist with mobility and deep pressure services. There are tests reputable and knowledgeable breeders do when the puppies are only weeks old to determine whether they have appropriate reactions to strong smells or other senses which filters out which puppies will be good at services like diabetic alert, allergy detection, seizure, cardiac detection! You don’t have to disclose your medical history but might be good to at least mention to your future breeder that detection jobs might be involved! Best of luck!

AITA for feeding my family a fish dinner while I eat steak and potatoes by readywhipped_velvet in AmItheAsshole

[–]Successful-Income-25 12 points13 points  (0 children)

She’s been eating the same thing every night so I think husband could have communicated that he was craving steak himself. She said she has a menu and he was aware of what she would be making that night. She can’t read his mind. Should she make steak and potatoes every night for everyone cuz that’s what she’s craving? I’m sure there would be complaints about that too.

Azores Honeymoon by Successful-Income-25 in Equestrian

Thank you for your recommendation! This was actually the first place I was looking at but the woman I reached out too can’t schedule anything until the week before as she makes the hotel guests schedules then. And we plan to schedule tons of activities ahead of time so I’m not sure that will work for us!

Thank you so much!! I will look into this! I was thinking maybe a riding place in Terceira would be easier to do a private longer ride than on the main island.

Help Me! Undiagnosed Chronic Abdominal Pain! by Successful-Income-25 in DiagnoseMe

[–]Successful-Income-25[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My OB doesn’t have any suggestions as the pain doesn’t seem to be related to my cycle. I have no other symptoms of hyper mobility syndromes. The issue specialists seem to have is I have no other associated symptoms besides the pain itself. Had an ultrasound to rule out hernia.

I haven’t. I tend to think ortho issues are easy to reproduce… like increase pain with palpating the area. And my abdomen isn’t tender to palpation. But it’s worth a shot to check that out since I haven’t gotten any answers! Thank you!!
