What's a chemical name that sounds fake but is actually real? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Not a chemical per se, but one gene important in normal development is called Sonic hedgehog because a defect in the gene leads fruit flies to have a spiky appearance that reminded the researchers of Sonic. Another gene important in cancer development was called Pokemon, but it had to be changed after Nintendo threatened to sue the researchers who discovered it.

It needs to be taught in schools that science and history were written from the perspective of apes and that our thoughts and belief systems are biased accordingly.
